  1. You wanna find someone that does biophysics in the chemistry department. thats what i did and found a great fit. Don't get a ton of neurochemistry specifics like the workings of the macro system but very interesting field, and the stuff not covered is easily picked up when you read the literature.
  2. Yes I called the department and they told me I was wait-listed with four other people.
  3. Has anyone else been wait listed? I am wait-listed with my top choice school. What are the actual chances that I could get in. Should I be excited or expect the worst. What's the inside scoop and wait list
  4. Called today and found out I have been wait-listed with four other people for Vanderbilt. What are my chances I actually get in?
  5. I've applied to several schools and I still have not heard a single word from any of them at all. Is anyone having this problem. I feel everyone is way past the dates I expected to hear something.
  6. Their Dean's department is taking there sweet ass time. I talked to the graduate coordinator and she was trying to tell me I got an offer without saying it because "She can't legally tell me I got accepted or rejected" but she did say that they had decided who they accepted and rejected but it was just a matter of sending out the emails because they have 17 PhD programs and the Dean's department handles all of those.
  7. I called the graduate coordinator after three weeks beyond when she said I'd hear something. She said they have all been reviewed and they know who they are giving offers and who they are rejecting. She was surprised I hadn't got an email yet. She said the deans department are the ones that do the emails. I asked if I got an offer or not because I just had a synthetic chemist interview and if I don't get in that would be a dream job until I did. She stated that she could not legally tell me if I got accepted or not but " not to worry it'll be just fine". Felt like she was telling me I got in, would you think they same? Does this mean I got in? Haven't heard from any of the other schools one way or another either but getting very nervous
  8. Has anyone heard anything from Pittsburgh or Yale. It seems that everything is taking a lot longer than it seems it should. I haven't got any letters, emails, or anything since I submitted my applications
  9. I spoke to the admissions lady on Monday at Vanderbilt and she said my application has been reviewed and I'd be hearing something by the end of the week but she didn't say if it would be good or bad news. I'm freaking out cause its Sunday and I haven't got a letter or email. They started review applications just this week. So hearing something so soon is that good or bad news!?
  10. I took the GRE this Novemember and felt confident, but scored 153 V and 152 Q. However, my GPA is 3.4 and Chem GPA is 3.6. I recieved a grant, my senior year and did eight months of research on an orginial project that I designed myself (Treatment of bipolar disorder through inhibition of GSK-3B). I'm working on submitting for publication and will be a first author on this. I also have wonderful letters of reccommendation from professors, research adviosrs, and scientist that worked with me during my project. At my local university I am also teaching the laboratory section of the "Advanced Organic Synthesis" class and in the spring will also be teaching the Analytical Labs in the spring. I'm applying to Vanderbilt, Hopkins, University of Texas at Austin, and University of Chicago. I have also applied for the NSF GFRP. I'm worried my GRE is not good enough and I really just don't know where I stand as an applicant any advice would be very helpful.
