  1. I want to say that I love to do cutting edge research however I am kind of a slow and laid back person. That's why sometimes I am concerned of the demanding and stressful nature of the academia career. A regular engineering job would be a better fit for me, I think. After watching the movie Prometheus, I feel it is really cool that the flying gadgets are able to explore and scan the cave autonomously, and also the automated and intelligent surgical machine that can do any surgical operations. I wish I can be one of those future engineers that can turn Sci-Fi into real gadgets.
  2. I am an undergrad senior in ME. I am planning on to get my master degree but not sure if PhD is really worthwhile. I am not planning on to go into academia. I don't think I have what it takes to become a professor.
  3. That sounds like some hard work.
  4. You missed out Caltech which is arguably the best space school in the whole country!
  5. Got rejected. Chapter closed. This sucks!
  6. Absolute dead silence. I have my fingers crossed.
  7. Does anybody know when MIT sends out results for MS Mechanical? Has anybody heard anything yet?
  8. Yes. You bet it definitely helps.
  9. Some other lower ranked schools, like the 30s to 60s have a later deadline, something like in the January.
  10. Oh, yeah, definitely, you have a very strong profile. If any of the top 15 schools can offer any kinds of Financial aid, like fellowship, RA or TA, why not? You will have a much stronger incentive to go outside of UF. Just apply and see which one you can get in.
  11. That's good. I am happy for you! When are you planning on taking GRE and TOEFL?
  12. Pretty good profile. I think you have a shot! What kind of paper will you be publishing? Is it a conference paper or a peer reviewed journal paper?
  13. That's fantastic! Are you applying aerospace or mechanical?
  14. Aerospace program takes ME students, too. Go ahead and apply. You have decent credentials.
  15. Most grad schools only consider your highest score.
  16. Yes. Your score is good enough to get into some of the Top 20 schools. Not MIT and Ohio State, their requirements are higher.
