  1. I am from Los Angeles. I've been to New Mexico before and I like it! But it's been a good while since I saw Albuquerque. Or maybe I've only driven through it on Route 66 I have looked into housing only minimally. I imagine the way to go is for a small group of people to rent a house or larger apartment.
  2. Hey, I've been accepted into an MA program in the Anthropology department. Visiting at the end of March and most likely attending. Anyone else thinking of moving to Albuquerque in August?
  3. Hey, I have friends who went to the UCLA Lab School. I attended Warner Avenue School, which goes up to 6th grade. There are also a number of private schools nearby such as John Thomas Dye, Brentwood, and Crossroads.
  4. Was accepted to an MA program at Sonoma State. Any thoughts about this area? What about off-campus housing here? Is it mostly residential? Thanks!
  5. I'm looking to revive this topic! Was accepted to an MA program in Anthropology at UNM. General thoughts on Albuquerque? I've heard that neighborhoods like Spruce Park, Sycamore, and Nob Hill are nice. Have any info on rentals and/or apartments in these areas? What about University Studio Apartments? Thanks!
  6. Hi all, I am a US citizen considering some MA programs in the UK. I am not sure, though, if this is a good plan because of work and visa difficulties afterwards. Has anyone gotten an MA in the UK in the humanities and then carried on smoothly afterwards? How does the process work? Which tier of visa did you apply for? (I am specifically thinking of MA programs in Archaeology at Durham and Edinburgh). Thank you! P.S. Reposting this here b/c it's the correct place!

  8. Hello all, I am thinking of applying to M.A. programs in Archaeology for entry in fall 2013. My end goal - for now - is working in an archaeological services firm as an archaeologist/historian/etc. I am from California and would prefer to work in the western US or the UK (where I studied abroad). So far my research has turned up the M.A. Archaeology programs at the University of Arizona and the University of New Mexico as well as the M.A. program in Cultural Resource Management at Sonoma State University. Does anyone have any experience with these programs? What do/did you think of them? Do you have any other suggestions for good programs? ("good" = good experience, good support network, good career prospects, with more CRM focus than research focus because I am not interested in a PhD at the moment). What about MA/MSc programs in the UK? Thanks for reading!
