Hello,
I'd like to get your opinion about my chances for admission in mathematical bio programs given my background
Undergrad School 1: BSc in Math and CS (3.9 overall, 3.95 math, 3.91 CS) graduated last year
Undergrad School 2: Medicine degree (grade at graduation equivalent to B+), will graduate January
My undergrad schools are not reputed
GRE Q: 167
GRE Math: no score yet, I guess around the 80th percentile
Coursework in math: Calc I-IV, Real analysis I,II, complex analysis, topology, linear algebra, abstract algebra, galois theory, number theory, Algebraic Geometry, formal logic, theory of computing, numerical analysis + grad course in CS (fuzzy logic and swarm intelligence)
Stat coursework: Probability and Statistics and Stochastic processes
Research experience: small project in computational bio, 2.5 years of research in computer vision (lots of Stat and machine learning - thesis + research internship - paper in submission) , also starting february i will have 2 research internships in mathematical neuroscience and computational biology in reputed groups
I found out that berkeley math has a research group in Algebraic statistics in computational biology (Algebraic geometry + stats + computational bio), also oxford math has a really strong mathematical bio concentration
do you think i have chances with these programs ? I have 3 strong recommendations from math professors , do you think i should get one from my research advisor ?
thanks
