  1. This is superstition... just relax. That's the only thing we can do. Selections have been made
  2. The host country does not read the applications until the US has nominated the national candidates. After the candidates are presented, the host country and the US will decide who they want to grant the scholarships to... I've heard that if there are 20 grants available for a host country, the US will most likely select 40 (double) national candidates.
  3. "The finals," haha!
  4. It would be helpful if 2013-14 applicants would include at least the University or if they are applying At-Large. Otherwise, it's less useful for future applicants.
  5. Nice job. Thanks, fondizzle!
  6. I cannot access the page... I need your permission. Thanks
  7. Yeah, this was discovered previously. I guess some people didn't get the memo. Thank you for the recap.
  8. Cool. Thanks.
  9. Haha, yes! We shall see.
  10. Yes, if I become a national finalist, I feel I will go all the way.
  11. looking forward to the results... I'm always wondering what stage the US Fulbright Commission is in the selection process.
  12. My undergrad research adviser moved to Arkansas to conduct research. I am working as a research associate in her organic chemistry lab for about 9 months at the start Feb. If I am selected for the Fulbright, I can drift right in to Spain. I'm not sure if I want to apply to med school early in the year or wait until April. I guess I'll find out in January. I get mote nervous as the day draws near
  13. Mine is entitled Photoactivatable DNA-Cleaving Copper Complexes. It's inorganic research with some biochemistry and molecular biology involved. Ultimately, these complexes will be applied as more effective, less toxic anti-cancer drugs to selectively destroy cancer cell DNA.
  14. We're chemistry buddies! I'm applying to do chemistry research in Barcelona, Spain. What's your project title?
  15. I've received one.
  16. I didn't... I wonder if this is a problem.
  17. STAY WITH US! January is getting so close... when the Holidays get here, you will forget all about it for a while.
  18. Thanks, KB, we will see you in Jan
  19. It's already designed... It has to be very feasible and concise: it's required for the 2-page grant proposal.
  20. - immensely passionate! I'm excited about applying as well. It's wonderful that you are applying again... there's really nothing more reassuring than confidence in yourself.
  21. That's a very picturesque vocabulary. It gives me an articulate, vivid description of your desire to travel and impact the country.
  22. For me, the Fulbright will be my first opportunity to be immersed in Hispanic culture. I am thrilled to think of my Fulbright endeavor as a learning experience: catching a bus, speaking to shopkeepers, communicating with my research faculty and communicating in day-to-day will give me such a deep connection with Spain's society. I see this as a journey to push myself to great bounds and to completely share MY cultural and scientific background... I noted this as "strengthening our transatlantic brotherhood" in my essay. I do think I could have been a touch more "passionate" about my cultural desires for the city of Barcelona, but I ultimately have no regrets. I'm happy I applied.
  23. Was the rejection letter personalized in any way?
  24. Wow, the applications are filtered 3 times?! Gosh: US ---> Host country ---> US
