  1. Been accepted to IU Bloomington with six years funding! Wow. After so many rejections (lost track), I can't believe there is a school that wants me.
  2. I don't have anything to say to that. Guess I'm a lazy person
  3. It was about Lewis Carroll and his Alice books. The prof doesn't consider childern lit serious. Modernism is his thing. The frame of analysis of the paper just happened to match the kind of analysis I want to engage in at grad school. Didn't have enough time to write another whole paper .
  4. Tracy, I feel for you; I'm also Asian, and from an Asian uni as well. When writing up a list of Grad schools I wanted to apply to, one of my LOR writers kept telling me that I should apply only to the top English programs, so I have-- with crushing results so far. But I personally blame my application, which I think would have benefited from some feedback; nobody around me was willing to read my WS of 20-ish pages without getting paid a handsome sum, so I had little feedback as to how to improve it (Same thing for my poor SOP...). Didn't know about grad cafe when I was applying-- a pity
  5. I took the old GRE two years ago: V 780 Q 780 W 4.5. I also have an Eng subject score (700, in the 94th percentile) I am planning to apply for a PhD in English, but am afraid that my writing score may deter my chances for applying to top schools. I don't want to take the GRE again, no time..but the writing score bothers me. Any advice? Should I just focus on my writing sample?
