  1. Anyone got in to a top-20 program and now doubting going to a phd program altogether? Reasons doubting it being the realization of spending remaining twenties on a stipend in a small college town, then possibly spending a career in multiple small college town (most likely not chosen but forced by the job market). But I feel I'll regret not going simply because I worry about the job market. Is it smart to reapply and focus on schools in large (non-college) cities and then plan to find jobs in similar cities? Part of my problem is doubting whether my personal life will be happy in small cities, i.e. wife and family job opportunities.
  2. Cornell's acceptances look mostly IR....so I'm not giving up hope yet
  3. To the Kansas admit, I also got accpeted. You should email the admin assistant for grad admissions. She lets you know about funding.
  4. I got the Emory waitlist email today as well. I'm not sure what to think about it. People apparently got waitlisted that went to the interview weekend. I did not get invited. So, would that mean I'm even further down the waitlist?
  5. This is a forum for questions about political science. It just happens to be mostly about applications.
  6. Any ideas about Michigan State? Last year's results show a few went out Jan 26. Has anyone heard something?
  7. maybe. the results page can be a hard thing to look at for expectations.
  8. Would schools like Emory call everyone in one day or spread them out?
  9. Should I wait for GRE retake scores before submitting applications? I'm retaking the test mid-November, so once I see the writing score it'll be a late November/early December application submission? I am only trying to increase my writing score (4.0) because my V/Q meet averages listed by the schools. Most schools only allow one test date and set of scores on the application. So, should I wait on the newest test or should I just use my old scores?
