  1. Guess I'll see you there. Are you looking for a roommate?
  2. The web site for the consortium is http://www.consortium.org/consortium/index.cfm. Here's what the site says: When I visited GW, it sounded like only a few students actually use this. I think GW only allows students to cross-register for a course if it is not offered at GW.
  3. My flight came in too late on Friday so I wasn't able to make it to American's event. I did go to GW's and I agree with you on all of the points you made. I spoke with Mr. Binkley and a few current students at the reception and was extremely impressed with the breadth of their knowledge and the advice they gave. The happy hour gathering afterward was a lot of fun too; all of the current students seemed really friendly with each other. I did ask a few people who had also gone to American's event to compare the two and they all said that they were much more impressed with GW. I've definitely decided to go to GW now. Maybe we met at the event, by the way? My name is Adam.
  4. I'm also deciding between these two. I don't have the impression that either one is more quantitative than the other; if you look at their curricula you'll see that their course offerings appear to be very similar. Also, keep in mind that all of the DC universities are part of the Washington Consortium, which means you can cross-register in classes at any of the universities if you find something that appeals to you. I've found employment reports here and here. Again, pretty similar. For me, this means that more minor factors are important, like lay prestige, etc. GW, of course, has a bit more of that. I also like that TSPPPA is solely for graduate students, whereas SPA is also an undergraduate school. There's also the Google group that GW has provided, which has made it very easy to communicate with current students and ask questions. I just feel like I've had access to much more information from GW, and that appeals to me. I'm still going to try to go to the admitted student events for both, though.
  5. I applied only to MPA programs, but I will be going to the Accepted Student Day at George Washington on the 27th.
  6. Just received an acceptance recommendation e-mail for the MPA program about ten minutes ago. Anyone planning to go to the Accepted Student Day(s)?
  7. I received a similar e-mail. Was yours from a tsadmit e-mail address? And was the title "Upcoming Events at the Trachtenberg School"? It also says "This e-mail is intended for students who have been recommended for admission to the MPP or MPA at the Trachtenberg School" at the bottom, but the e-mail has that same message about financial aid "if admitted." Weird.
  8. Was this only for MPPs, or MPAs as well?
  9. Definitely obsessed. I actually use an add-on for Firefox that displays a scrolling ticker of random stories from my sundry RSS feeds. I'm also usually reading several political blogs and discussion boards if I'm on the computer. Needless to say, I've done a fair bit of reading on Citizens United v. FEC today.
  10. Judging by most of the schools I've looked at that release this data, it does seem like it's generally 60-70% female in public policy/administration programs.
  11. I think the role of money has to be considered as well. If schools are publishing data that allows a person to make a highly accurate evaluation of their chances, they will make less money from fees, as will ETS. Of course, there's no way to know if they actually are making a considerable amount of money from fees or not.
  12. Yes, but I think they only added the feature this week, so I can't really say what the wait time might have been.
  13. It was from the confirmation e-mail for the computer-based test which I took at the end of October. There's a confirmation number in the e-mail which has eight zeroes and then eight numbers. I removed the zeroes and it worked when I entered the remaining numbers in the third entry box-- can't remember exactly what it said.
  14. I was able to get it to work by entering the confirmation number from the first e-mail I received, without the zeroes, in the third box.
  15. I've just noticed that we can view our scores online now. Nice to see that ETS is entering the 20th century.
  16. I would suggest calling ETS. I took the GRE about two weeks ago and when I called yesterday the representative said that the report had been shipped on Monday.
  17. My situation is similar, so I'm wondering what you will enter as your cumulative GPA on your applications?
  18. My test was also AW, Q, V, and then an experimental Q section. The experimental section was clearly marked as such and voluntary.
