@HopefullyNeuro, so what did you do???
-
Guys, I posted the related content earlier (and thank you, @ak1921, but I want to here what others think ) I know many of you received multiple offers of interviews, and some of you should have some schedules in conflict...What are your plans? I am really in panic here..I have Caltech CNS and WashU in conflict (Feb 1st)...I told WashU that I will attend the interview about two or three weeks earlier already...I really want to visit both schools and see how they are like.
-
@ak1921, congrats!!!!! Finally Stanford started sending out invites...I am now refreshing my emails every 10 seconds...lol Anyway, I just received invitation from Caltech CNS...very excited, as it's one of my top choices...! But their interview weekend overlaps with WashU.....What do you guys think I should do?
-
@brainmaze, I think you are right. Maybe invitations for cell/mole neuro tracks are done, and they are still reviewing students who applied to systems track (I did). But I haven't heard anything from them yet.
-
Welcome. I am also waiting for NYU (CNS) and BU. It seems NYU started sending invites, but I don't know if they are finished inviting. I emailed them, but received no response. According to previous years, BU usually invites people in late January.
-
@neuroendocrinology, congratulations, it seems you are nailing interviews in all schools you applied to. Hope to see you in Penn soon!

Hey brainmaze, When did you hear from Bob (Cummings) ? I got his email yesterday, and I specifically asked if all the invitations are sent out. I am ctrl+c and ctrl+v his email. I applied to systems track, and the answers to you and me seem to conflict with each other..I have no idea what's happening. ------------------------------------------- Hello Ryan, Your application is currently under review, invitations will continue to be sent over the next couple weeks. We do not have a set number of invitations expected to go out. This year we received over 500 applications and approximately 40% were international applicants. Domestic and International applications are reviewed as equal so there is no set number of invitations in either case. Best of luck, Robert R. CummingsGraduate Program Assistant Department of Brain and Cognitive Sciences MIT Building 46-2005 77 Massachusetts Avenue Cambridge MA 02139 p: 617-253-5742 e: robertrc@mit.edu -------------------------------------------- As a side note, I followed up his mail and sent another email asking about funding for international students. This was his response. -------------------------------------------- Funding for international students is limited but funding alone is not taken into consideration during the review process. Applications are evaluated based of academic credentials. In any given year we enroll between 10-20 students, international students often make up a smaller percentage, but this is due to the smaller number of international students who apply. At present, approximately 20% of our entire graduate student population is international. --------------------------------------------

I just received from chair of NGG group at Penn that I was invited for an interview (Feb 8th). I know many of you are invited, so hopefully see you there soon. For those waiting for Penn, keep your fingers crossed..!

For those who are still waiting for MIT BCS, I emailed the coordinator. He said they are still inviting applicants, and the time of notification depends on who is reviewing your applications, rather than "priority lists". Therefore, interview invites will continue for next couple of weeks. He also said that they received over 500 applications (!!) and 40% of them are internationals. Domestic and foreign applicants are reviewed as equal, and there is no set number of invitations in either case. So let's keep waiting!

I am an international student and applied to Columbia. I didn't receive any response, emailed the coordinator, and they responded that all invitations are sent out, I am not granted the position for interview. They say they invited very few internationals, due to funding issues.
-
I just asked Sally about that. They are interviewing 45-50 applicants (the range means they are still accepting?????) and will accept 27-30 students. These numbers can vary. They expect 40~50% of registration rate among those accepted applicants.
-
Hey, welcome and congrats on WashU. When's your interview session? I am Feb 14-16th, we may meet each other there. I am also an international student (from South Korea, but did undergrad in the States), and I am very curious about those issues you raised. But I also have no idea. But I cannot imagine the admission committees put international students on priority over domestic applicants.
-
@Crowson, welcome and congrats on your acheivement, those are impressive lists. I talked (over email) with the program coordinator from Harvard, and she said all the invitations has sent out. As far as I know and read from this post, Stanford and Yale has not started send invites yet.
-
For those who applied to Caltech CNS (is there anyone besides me?), I have a news from a current grad student who is a close friend of mine. They are sending invites in the second week of January, and have a single interview weekend: Feb 1st-2nd.
-
If they have already their list of applicants, why do they send it over a long period of time? I just don't understand...
-
Wow...MIT has started inviting people...Congrats on nibblingsushi! As long as I know MIT has sent invitations for a long period of time, so for those who haven't received from MIT, let's keep our fingers crossed. I think I saw here that some people have invitations from NYU. Are they from Sackler Institute (Medical Campus) or Center for Neural Science???? I applied the latter. As far as I know they are operated separately, one from medical center (Sackler) and another from school of art and science (CNS)....
-
Thanks, seldamat. If you find out their plans on more interview invites, please let us know. I did see the admission fact sheets, and was very frustrated by the number in international students section....sigh Good luck to you on other schools as well. I am sure you will have more if you can get from Princeton.
-
Welcome, and congrats! When did you hear from Princeton? Do you know, by any chance, that they are done sending out invites? It's one of my top schools and I am anxiously waiting for their message....But I am on verge of giving up
-
Among people active in this post, is there any international applicants (I am)?
-
Welcome, and congrats on your achievement! About BU, what is PiBS? Is it different from Neuro program?
-
I was also curious..Is there anyone heard from Columbia and NYU?
-
Thanks, HS2013. Sorry, ak1921, now I read from one of your previous posts that you didn't apply to Princeton (correct?). My bad.
-
Is there anyone besides ak1921 who applied to Princeton and secured Interview? I asked the coordinator whether all of the interview invites have been sent out, but she gave me a vague answer, saying that they are inviting on rolling bases. @ak1921, could you do me a favor, and ask Princeton neuro program if the invitations are complete? I think they will be more willing to disclose those information to you
-
From results search section, it seems Columbia hosts interviews in Mid February. But I have no idea for this year Columbia seems to send invitations before January...Let's wait for a couple of days more!
-
I saw from your previous posts that you did undergrad and master's in Korea, so I assumed you are "traditional" Korean. Also, your impressive interview invite records made me think that you may have received that scholarship..Anyway, congratulations! You should be a highly qualified one, regardless of receiving the scholarship. Well, I am Korean (also Korean citizen), but went to Hopkins for undergrad and Penn for master's. Do you know someone on that track?
