Thanks!! Everyone who emailed Thom Wall was rejected so I refrained from emailing until this noon. Not surprisingly, I was rejected in less than an hour. With that, closes my cycle.

In at SAIS (Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies)... I didn't see any post on resultsboard but I guess SAIS' phd program is quite atypical? Anyone still waiting on Harvard? I dont know if I should just call the department.

To people who've been waitlisted at UVA, they are hosting a visitation weekend on the 23rd. I guess most candidates would at least do the visitation before making a decision. PM me if you need more info.

to build on the original question, what about between GW and UVA? leaning toward UVA in terms of adviser and feel, but do people think GW is stronger, esp. more upcoming?

Do you guys spend time learning more about a so-so program when you have better choices? I mean, it is also a fit, it just enjoys a lower ranking, I'm wondering if I should invest time in learning more about it just in case more information might change my mind?

Only two acceptances from Princeton on the results board? So anyone who hasn't heard should expect the worst?

Thanks! I received an email from the Program Director with the offer letter attached around 7pm on Friday. and yesterday, a very nice email from a professor on the admission committee to congratulate me.

OMG!!! I got in with UVA!!! Burst with tears after this looooong wait. got rejected by MIT, Cornell and UPenn but all those dont matter now 'cause UVA has always been my favorite. Now whatever happens with Princeton and Harvard, I'm already relieved!!

I emailed UMD and was told: They are in the process of making decisions. No news yet. Thank you for your patience. So I guess those who have not heard from UMD including myself still have hope...

I'm one of those who haven't heard from UPenn. I called the department and was told that they were "just about done" with all the decisions and my name is not on the list. I assume MIT is the same: no news is bad news.

But to compare to the scenario in Life of Pi, a paradise island might mean danger underneath. Who knows? God has a plan for everyone. So hang in there. We only know God's plan for us after it happens. It might turn out better than what we had originally wanted.

that's unreasonable right? I called them just now, they say funding has all been given out, and 3 weeks deadline is not rigid, but 5 weeks would be the max.

I did not get any funding information in my package. Did yours come in a big white envelope from the department, saying we are given an adviser and 3 weeks to decide? No funding would be a deal breaker for me.

Here to report an acceptance from George Mason. Got a snail mail yesterday from the department, no funding info, said formal acceptance letter will be coming from the school. I plan to wait out and see if there's funding on its way while waiting for the other schools. But good start. Yay! Anyone else got the same thing?

Could you indicate which program (or at least which state) you are in for some of us who's waiting out so that we will not repeat your experiences? Much appreciate it!!
