I'm sure there are people who will decline their awards, so I wouldn't completely rule it out.. What else does the letter say; we haven't received ours yet - is there a ranking of some kind? (if you don't mind sharing)
-
Thanks! Anyone who has applied after their first year of being in a doctoral program is automatically eliminated from CGS (you have to have less than 24 months in your program from the date the award starts)
-
Got it! Congrats everyone!
-
Ok the SGS contact at Queen's has said they haven't received anything yet - which is bizarre if you ask me.. She did say they would forward them to the departments within an hour of getting them; whatever that means!
-
Congrats to all of you guys! Anyone from Queen's here?
-
Ok so: Waterloo UoT and it seems Waterloo is kinder to its students.. lol..
-
How hard can it be to forward results to the departments? It's not like there are thousands of applications per school.. Jeez.. It's just a handful from every department and it's not even 3 pm..
-
Maybe those who have learned their results can just list their school for the sake of the rest of us (and our sanity?) So far - Waterloo? Anyone else?
-
Yayy to guessing the right date - boo to not hearing from my school yet! Congrats revoltingmedievalist!
-
Big Money, Big Money... sigh
-
If she said "probably tomorrow" that means they are sending the list to the grad offices sometime today.. Who has got those connections to find out for us? LOL
-
That's what I was trying to tell the professor, but he insisted it was for a PhD student.. Weird.. Anywho.. just thought I would check, not that we can do anything about it over the weekend..
-
This is completely unverifiable; but a faculty member who asked me today if I had heard about my results said he heard that a doctoral student had gotten his results (albeit not at our university). I tried to tell the guy that it didn't make sense since SSHRC themselves said they wouldn't release anything until the week of the 11th (and to the universities not even us).. Has anyone here heard something??
-
I say we will hear from the departments (or the first person notified on this forum) on Tuesday.. From what I read, SSHRC didn't specify Mon/Tues, they just said week of May 11 for doctoral awards..
-
Congrats to all the MA's who got SSHRCs! Here's to the light at the end of the tunnel for the rest of us (gulp)
-
No the change was effective this year (only 09-10 for PhD) and for this and the following year for Master's according to the release by SSHRC that was circulated.. this is all making me very skeptical but then again, it's SSHRC so anything is possible..
-
Weren't there supposed to be some 400 extra Master's CGS awards given out this year because of the budget (albeit to business-related degrees)? How come the total for 09-10 is actually 100+ less awards than last year's? This is very weird.. I have no idea what these SSHRC people are doing..
-
I guess our "hero" would be the first person who gets to hear from their university grad studies office and let us know so we can hunt ours down and get the info.. lol..
-
This is just unbelievable. They should at least send out emails to everyone apologizing for the delay and giving us a "real" idea of when we might be hearing from them.. this is ridiculous..
-
Yeah, and wasn't Vanier a separate application process? You had to get nominated or something? Any news from NL??
-
I guess it's not happening today either.. Mailman just delivered love letters from Visa and Mastercard but nothing from SSHRC.. sigh
-
Gah!! I had just resigned myself to the fact that it would be at least another week. Now I'm all twitter-pated again, thinking it will be tomorrow!
-
One more day goes by and nothing.. I heard from our department assistant and she said that grad studies had emailed her saying they have not received anything from SSHRC yet.. sigh..
