    SSHRC

Hmmm.. doesn't sound right to me.. I know that Queen's forwarded 63 applications this year to SSHRC, which is more comparable with the figure that says List A.. Why would SSHRC list the applications that weren't forwarded by the university as well (total of A& was 189..

What does the column "lists A&B" mean in the spreadsheet?

Computer problems? How convenient. They just announced the post-doc results so how come those weren't affected by their technological "problems"? jeez.

Seriously! I feel the same way... Surely someone here has a good relationship with their grad studies coordinator to find out whether these blasted results are out, at least to the schools themselves, at least that way I know I can harass someone.. LOL

    SSHRC

I got my acknowledgment from SSHRC on Jan 27th... I did not want to ever see my statement again, so I never bothered  Looks like we've all been waiting for quite some time now.. I have a feeling we won't be hearing until first week of May.. I did email SSHRC a few weeks ago, and was told that the letters won't be sent out until the end of April (not mid-April).. In fact the response I got back was the following one-liner: "The results will be sent by mail around the end of April. "

I agree about this whole business-related degree issue, but that only affects CGS applications not regular SSHRC fellowships, so I dont see why there would be THAT much delay in the results

Aah the joys of not stressing about funding anymore! That's awesome for your NSERC congrats!

Yeah, you will probably be ok for OGS because almost all of the people who do get other awards end up declining it.. EC86, have you heard back from SSHRC already or was it another agency that you had applied to? Congrats to both by the way

    SSHRC

Wish I could sell it as something else and be able to apply for NSERC.. I just don't get why the regulations are so different.. Just doesn't make sense.. I mean, with the new 100 business CGS awards due to wonderful budget, all they are doing is giving the 100 1st year applicants CGS awards, whereas there might be legit (albeit business applicants) in their 2nd year who might have better applications.. very twisted.. i just think the way SSHRC works is beyond anyone's comprehension!

Congrats to all the the OGS recipients.. I have a question regarding CGS scholarships.. Does anybody else find it bizarre that you cannot technically get a CGS once you are past your first year as a PhD student? I mean this whole thing about having to have less than 17 months (in your program) is just really weird.. How many people actually have enough presentations, pubs, etc to be forwarded by their school's grad committee to make it to SSHRC in their first year? It's just odd, and where on Earth did they come up with the 17 month figure? It's very different with NSERC where you can get a CGS pretty much as long as you have a year left in your program. Sigh..
