  1. Thank you! Gee, I was really surprised to hear back so early.
  2. Received an email by POI at LSU today.
  3. Being from Germany myself, I can only second that. With regard to finances, keep in mind that most German provinces don't have tuition rates. Schools are subsidized by higher tax rates. I think it would be a good idea to get in touch with a few Universities and Professors there. They might be able to give you the best advice as there might be individual differences. Lastly, with regard to Psych. Some of the most reputable Unis (that's how Germans call it) are Freie Universitaet Berlin and University of Mannheim.
  4. In response to the first post and to give an idea what I felt I had to do to compensate mediocre GRE scores (I suspected, I would have to work hard on the research aspect, bc English is my second language and I didn't expect to do great on the GRE as a result.) However, I have a 4.0 GPA. I have been an RA/volunteer in an anxiety lab for almost 3 years now. The researcher under which's supervision I work is quite well known in the field of adult anxiety disorders. During these three years I assisted in several masters and diss studies, administered clinician rated assessment scales, operated several lab tools (cold water press) or computerized assessment tools. Additionally, I have completed my honors thesis in the same lab, which I was also able to present at ABCT conference a few weeks ago (first author). I am also a second author on another poster, presented at the same conference. Further, I have co-authored a paper (2nd) which is currently under review and I am in the process of compiling info and reviewing a meta analysis with two other authors. additionally, I am preparing to work on another poster or two for next years ABCT conference. Moreover, I have worked in a developmental/cogn. lab for one year as a paid, part time RA. Lastly, I worked as a study coordinator on a suicide screening study. I am also a co-author (3rd) on the paper discussing the findings of said study. My tasks involved managing the lab and a team of seven to collect 150 sets of initial and follow up data as well as administering the clinical assessment battery along with other grad students.
  5. I know from my grad student liaison that the first few answers should arrive right before Christmas. But many will come in around early/mid January. In fact, one of my POI @ Case Western told me they have all the answers out by mid january. So it depends; also on when the respective school's deadline for applications was. Also, here is a link that might be interesting for all here (or a reason to get even more anxious?) clinical psychology grad school admission results http://www.thegradcafe.com/survey/index.php?q=clinical+psychology&t=a&pp=100&o=p&p=1
  6. After I posted, I assumed that you may look into suicide and eating disorder research (Miami, OH- April Smith? She's Joiner's ex graduate student. And so seem some of the other's on your list? Maybe?) I have been a UG RA in the Joiner lab where I coordinated a study for 10 months while the graduate PI was on clinical internship. I also know a few of his graduate students or ex-students as a result. I hear he's rather hands-off but available when you need assistance. He is also very fast in responding to any correspondence. But not necessarily out to spend a lot of time with graduate students unless they want to meet/see him. His graduate students get a lot of pubs and often seem to find jobs in academia upon graduating from FSU. Haven't worked w/ Keel. I cannot say much about her mentorship style. Although, I know one of the grad students in the Joiner lab, actually also is advised/mentored by Dr. Keel (EatingDisorders and its association to suicidal behavior/ideation). The campus here is beautiful, really outstanding IMO. Tallahassee can get a little boring, esp. if you are used to a metropolitan area. But all things nature-related are abundant and fantastic. But in all honesty, in grad school, we all are going to be very busy anyway... Let me know if you have more questions about Tallahassee or other faculty.
  7. I see you are applying to FSU. May I ask who you apply to? That's where I got my UG degree. I am pretty familiar with the profs there.
