  1. my application says the same thing as yours. "under departmental review." its good to know I'm not the only one. I will probably accept the other offer I have, but I did love LIU's program and would love to be able to just cross if off my list and officially move on if I'm rejected
  2. yikes, nevermind. someone (hoping its the same person) posted on SDN too. my heart just sank
  3. i am choosing to believe this is another acceptance for CW post since it was by phone, like the others, and the phd program told us theyd let us know by email. this of course may just be grasping at straws, but its the only thing i can do to stay sane. if the person who posted that acceptance would like to clarify, by all means do!
  4. Did anyone who interviewed here hear anything back yet? They said we'd find out last week of Feb, first week of March and I'm going absolutely nuts!
  5. Is anyone actually getting messages from this thread?
  6. i second this. I still have not heard one way or the other from UCLA. SDSU gave me the expected rejection Friday, and I was anticipating to hear from UCLA the same day, because their clinical interviews start feb 7th and they said all notifications would be sent 2 weeks in advance. not holding out hope though...
  7. Looking for info on: U Montana UT Austin PGSP-Stanford Psyd Pepperdine Psyd Texas Tech Texas A&M LIU Brooklyn All of these are for clinical emphasis. Thanks so much to whoever writes and helps this very frantic applicant out!
  8. Would the person who got waitlisted at UMontana PM their POI if they dont mind? Thanks so much!
  9. For all wondering- all rejections and interview invites will be out by Friday. I wish they'd just put me out of my misery already! Gah!
  10. thanks. yeah, I'm very confused to say the least. Especially because I've been in contact with the department before to make sure my application was complete... very strange
  11. Quite confused about these two. I've been seeing people get rejections and interviews here and there but I have yet to hear anything from either, in either direction. Am starting to feel invisible! Anyone getting this feeling, or have any news to share?
  12. i second this, for clinical specifically
  13. Its hard to say- is the research you'll be doing in the fall aligned with child care or dev psych? Your camp job sounds like a good in for a young researcher wanting to work with kids, but might I suggest trying to work at a camp specifically for developmentally or mentally challenged youth? Volunteering is always a good way to gain experience with kids too. It sounds like you're still refining your interests, so I would also suggest aligning any future positions you take to what you might want to put in an SOP as what would make you MOST appealing to a specific POI. It's a fine line we have to straddle between diversifying our CVs and not seeming "scattered" or "lacking a specific focus." I learned all of this as I went along- I would have liked to have heard it before. Being on boards like these is a good step in the right direction though
  14. my advice would be to work a job that is even only slightly related to your field as a way to tread water and look for more appropriate jobs in the meantime. That's what I did following completion of my MA- I got a job in an ER which was not directly related to my psych pursuits, but, it was in healthcare, I did have interactions with psych patients, and it gave me ample time to pursue employment, which is how I got my current paid psychiatry RA position. As someone who waited tables throughout my entire undergrad and grad studies, I took a significant pay cut at the ER, but it was well worth it. I wouldn't be where I am now had I not made that move. Also, throughout both my jobs in the ER and currently at A&M, I've been able to work remotely doing unpaid research. Every moment counts. I wish I would have realized that sooner, but I'm glad I did eventually.
  15. I saw that two people posted about interview invites for UNC and was wondering if they or anyone else had any additional info i.e. if all invites went out today, who contacted them, etc. It's one of my stretch schools but man am I in love with their program.
  16. not really sure what the Foa study is- I'm working for STRONG STAR for the UT Health Science Center and the Root Cause study for TAMU. Our soldiers are always running back and forth from project to project, so I know there are a lot of studies here. It's certainly a place with plenty of data to mine!
  17. My primary interests are PTSD, adolesence, and psychotherapy research. I'm applying to the major universities in Texas, where I'm located (UT, UNT, Baylor, TAMU-who I'm employed through, U of H, Tech, & SHSU for their forensic program). I'm also applying to some schools on the west coast (UCLA, UCSD, palo alto, pepperdine, pacific, montana), and LIU brooklyn, wustl, rutgers, and UNC. I think thats all of them? I worked in a psychotherapy research lab when i was getting my masters, which is where I developed that interest, and in working on this project at Ft. Hood I've become interested in PTSD too. I want to study outcome using a dynamic approach to treatment as opposed to the traditional CBT route. What about you?
  18. This is my second time applying and even though my credentials have been seriously boosted, I'm going crazy. I second guess myself every day (based primarilly on my pathetic GRE Quant score- math has been a lifelong struggle for me, and always will be). At least I have a backup plan. I'm an RA employed on a pretty big landmark PTSD study and I'm contracted through the year but I'm certain the study will go longer so barring any unforseen mishap, I'm pretty sure my contract would get renwed. I hope it doesn't come to that though- I'm ready to get this Doctorate going!!
