  1. For me it's gonna be late. It will start at midnight...
  2. Yes you're both right. I'm choosing Elliott. I really like the program and I'll be able to intern during the day. I also think that they are really committed to their students. Thank you!
  3. Really? It's ranked #7 in International Politics among US schools by US News: http://grad-schools.usnews.rankingsandreviews.com/best-graduate-schools/top-humanities-schools/international-politics-rankings It's also ranked #13 among world best schools (GWU is only #38): http://www.usnews.com/education/worlds-best-universities-rankings/best-universities-politics-and-international-studies I don't know which one is the best indicator: US News or Foreign Policy?
  4. That's what I was thinking as well. But some friends tell me to go to NYU because it has a better reputation than GWU. They say that it's not even a question! I'm clearly leaning toward GWU though, but I'm so afraid to make a mistake. Do you know which school you'll attend?
  5. Thank you for your input! But I see that you've been admitted to SCPS, while I've been admitted to GSAS (Graduate School of Arts and Science). Do you know what the difference is between an MA in International Relations (GSAS) and an MS in Global Affairs (SCPS)?
  6. I will!
  7. No funding either, but I expected it since they say on the website that master's students usually don't get any funding...
  8. So I was almost sure to attend Elliott next fall, but I just got an email from NYU saying that I have been admitted. Now I'm having a hard time choosing between the two. In GWU I would do an MA in International Affairs with a concentration in International Security Studies. In NYU I would do an MA in International Relations. I think these are very different programs. My sense is that Elliott is more of a professional school, while NYU is more research-focused (there's a required MA thesis). In the future I would like to work in the fied of international security (think tank or international organization). I think that Elliott is also a better fit because I could intern during the day and I REALLY need more work experience. I'm straight from undergrad, and my only work experience was a 3-months internship last summer in the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs. I'm going to work there again this summer though. Oh and I didn't get any funding from any of these schools. So what do you guys think? Thank you very much!
  9. Yay I just got accepted to the MA in International Relations! Hope you guys got some great news as well.
  10. My regrets: - I started thinking about applying in October and started studying for the GRE in November (I took the test early December). I needed a lot more time to work on the quant section so I ended up with a low score. But I was happy with my verbal score, which wasn't bad given the fact that I'm a non-native speaker. - I applied to too many programs that weren't a good fit. I didn't spent much time doing research on the programs. I'm lucky to have been admitted to a program that happens to be exactly what I wanted. But I could definitely have better used my time and money. What I did well (always be positive!): - I got as many feedbacks as I could on my SOPs. - I completed all my applications on time even though the US application process was completely new to me. Nobody in my network (family, friends living in my country...) had ever applied to a US school so I couldn't get any help on that side.Luckily some American friends did help me but only to read my SOPs. Congrats to you all!
  11. Na3eem, have you tried to call them? I would like to do so but since I live abroad it would be too expensive. If you do please let us know!
  12. Bigworrier, why does your signature say "informal NYU"?
  13. Same here, still waiting to hear from NYU GSAS, why is it taking that long?
  14. I'm sorry if I wasn't clear. I actually want to live in a city that is easy to reach from D.C. (where I'll go to school), such as Baltimore, but in less time that it would take if I lived in Baltimore (I.e closer to D.C than Baltimore). Are the cities that you suggested accessible by train ? Unfortunately I don't drive so I would need to use public transportation. Again, thank you for your help.
  15. Are there other cities that are less expensive than D.C., as easy to go to as Baltimore, but also faster to go to than Baltimore? I'm worried that 1 hour train each way + taking the subway will be tiring...
  16. Which MARC train line can we take from Baltimore to DC? I'm definitely thinking of living in Baltimore instead of DC.
  17. Thank you biscuits! It works with the "print to PDF" option.
  18. Do you know if we can download the admission letter? All I can see is the print button...
  19. What about deferring admission for one year and using that time to work? I would get additional work experience and I could put some money aside (if I work where my parents live I would not have to pay a rent). Do you know Elliott students who have done that?
  20. @Vincehoward : woo, that's a lot of money. May I ask you what your field is? Salary averages for GW Elliott are very good... In my field they range between $54 000 - $64 000, only six months after graduation.
  21. Thank you for the information CalSeeker!
  22. I was in the same situation as you and eventually emailed Prabhu. She told me I had not been recommended for funding (what I expected). I guess no news is bad news, but it never hurts to ask.
  23. Has anyone here applied to that program? Do you know when we will get the results? Thanks! Edit: Sorry, I mean NYU*. I wrote too fast.
  24. I finally emailed Prabhu, who told me I was not recommended for financial support. Too bad...
  25. I haven't gotten any email yet... But I'm pretty sure I won't get any funding.
