  1. hippo - thanks - is that the same for the grad classes?
  2. also @hippo74 (you're a popular guy ) - for JH Neuro, applications through the medical school but if I recall you mentioned that you are a neuro lab tech but up at the undergrad campus. Where is neuro grad research typically carried out?
  3. Does anyone here have stats for post interview acceptance rate for Johns Hopkins neuro?
  4. @ryancho - nice of you to share what you learned from Columbia and MIT BCS. 500 applications! And how many invites are they sending out?
  5. Don't know if this thread from CC would help: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/graduate-school/1427858-2013-biosciences-interview-dates.html
  6. Congrats DingBo! So you got your invite via email?
  7. @gliaguy - thanks for the update. So much for my theory. It just surprised me that they are making invite calls at night.
  8. @Gliaguy - Are you, like AK1921, currently outside the US? Just curious if the first reported invites were international calls (ak1921 - please correct me, but my memory has you currently doing a masters in Korea). Everyone, be sure your phones are charged.
  9. So who thinks Yale Neuro will be in the next two days and MIT Bio on Friday? Past history would make it seem like that is a possibility.
  10. @ak1921 - somehow I missed your reply above. Interesting that we were thinking along the same lines. As for your recent question, that is BCS's pattern. If you look at past history, there will likely only be a few posted here at gradcafe which is not reflective of the total number of invites (this year is already an example, there are zero posts in the results section though there are two of you here who have received invites). The invites that are posted in the results section are typically spread out over a multi week period. The latest invite I have seen was Feb 8 I believe. I have no idea why MIT BCS thinks this is a good idea other than my speculation above.
  11. @sushi - thanks for your insights and the fact MIT did not ask for confirmation. That does quash my theory regarding an ordered list. At the same time, my point about size of program was comparing MIT to MIT, in other words MIT bio and not other school's neuro programs. MIT Bio has three distinct and separate interview dates AND send all (like 99%) of invites on a single day. This is strikingly different from BCS with their scattered invites and single interview date. Remember, Harvard is Harvard. Their undergrad accepted student weekend was the longest of any I remember hearing about as well. I would not try and compare anything to them. At the same time, Harvard has two routes you could do Neuro - Neuro and BBS. It appears neuro has a single date while BBS has two and it is a fact that the size of the two programs is very different.
  12. Ryancho is dead on regarding for past patterns for MIT BCS interview invites. At times, they have gone into February if I remember. If you apply what AK1921 learned about the list being formed back in December, I would speculate that it is an ordered list and invite acceptances and rejections impact who they invite next from the list. That would also make sense for a smaller program (indicated by a single day would indicate) and possible concern about maintaining a particular balance in the incoming class. MIT Bio, which also offers some neuro stuff, sends out all invites on one day (past history has been the friday after new years) but has three interview dates spread out over an entire month. Completely different pattern from the same school. Congrats to nibbling sushi!
  13. @HS2013 - You mention a Columbia neuro invite from this morning (congrats BTW). Did you post it on the results page because I saw nothing new appear this mornings results page? If you did then, maybe it's a time zone thing.
  14. Thanks so much. I appreciate the info. Congrats on your invites.
  15. @ak1921 - Can you update us with the interview date/dates for MIT BCS? Its one of the programs whose dates are completely unknown. Thx
  16. @gradschooloptimist - If your conflict involves NYU, the invite tells you how to address that concern.
  17. For the past two year, columbia invites have been over two contiguous days. There does not seem to be as much data on the NYU.
  18. @ryancho - in the results postings, there are two postings from today. One Columbia Neuro and one NYU neuro.
  19. Using a results search on Columbia neuroscience, over the past 4 years, 3 out of 4 years were before Christmas Eve (Dec 20, Dec 23/24, Dec 24/25) and the 4th showed Jan 7. Wouldn't it be nice if the school published when their invites would be extended to the applicants........ @neuroendicrinology - I had misinterpreted your post & was concerned that maybe invited were sent out before xmas this year. For Columbia, I don't remember seeing multiple waves in the past. So missing the first wave, would logically mean, no invite at all. Thanks for the update.
  20. I have seen no sign of any Columbia Neuro invites this year to date. @neuroendocrinology - you mention your hope for more invites. Are you aware that any have been made this year?
  21. @ak1921 For MIT, was this the BCS or Biology program? Both lead to the Molecular and Cellular Neuroscience track.
  22. Application submitted 11/23 GRE & transcript sent 10/24 Called on Nov 30, they confirmed both were physically in file Application status not updated as complete until roughly dec 11
