  1. @thelastgoal - when they realize the terrible mistake they've made by letting me in, you can have my spot
  2. I'm inclined to believe they've all gone out. I don't have any direct evidence to prove that assertion, but that seems to be the general direction the evidence is moving in: no one on here getting an interview since January, interviews being requisite for admission, being pretty sure they wouldn't have started making offers until all the interviews were done (based on knowing Harvard and how much they like to keep as many cards as possible in their hands in all things and accepting someone without having alllllllll the info from alllllll the interviews in front of them first just doesn't seem like their style), knowing acceptance letters are going out next week, etc. I can't accept or reject thelastgoal's 16 number, but I don't really feel like we have any way to determine the percentage of applications this site captures and consequently we have no way to infer the number of acceptances that have gone out. I might be totally wrong though!!
  3. Also I've heard from two solid sources that EdLD interviews are still going on, so I wouldn't confound the wrapping up of PhD stuff with EdLD stuff wrapping up as well - it sounds like they may have intentionally staggered them by a couple weeks.
  4. I maybe should keep this under wraps but I was told yesterday that the intended postmark date for hard copy acceptance letters is 2/20 (next Thursday). I can't confirm, but I would presume this is also the date that reject notices will be posted. Almost to the end guys
  5. kijewels, it's the best here! Super collaborative and supportive environment and never a lack of good discussion/debate! I turned down a 20K grant from Columbia to be here and was worried about regretting it but I totally feel like it was the right call! Best of luck!
  6. I got the call too!!!! Definitely got way too excited to edit this paper I just turned in and am definitely about to go change all my classes this semester to pass/fail since my GPA doesn't matter anymore!
  7. Also yes, the official word is interview invitations will go out throughout February but I haven't heard of anyone getting one since 1/25 - including my friend who I actually think is a way stronger candidate than me and was basically coaxed into applying by the HGSE prof she's currently researching with and......no interview. Such a crazy process.
  8. The CIS concentration director told me during my interview to expect a response late Feb-early March and that later doesn't mean bad news, it just means things take a while. Personally, I'm expecting more like March this year because now that its a joint venture between HGSE and GSAS, everything has to be passed back and forth and double approved and given that I've never seen a place as absurdly bureaucratic as Harvard is, I can only imagine how much slower the process is now.
  9. They dont release admit rates but when I asked the admissions director last year if it was around 40-50%, she confirmed that was about right but it changes every year and from program to program. I might accept a number as low as 30%, but the 16% presented above sounds low to me.
  10. FYI I just got on the phone and bugged admissions and got exactly zero info out of them regarding both number of interviews being given and number of students they're anticipating accepting. So. That's that. They did say they're still giving out interview invitations though.
  11. Has anyone heard/gotten any info on how many interviews they're doing? I know EdLD interviews 50 for 25 spots but that's a "fly you out for the weekend" type thing so I would imagine they're doing more phone interviews? Does a 25% shot sound too low?
  12. Has anyone heard back from their POIs at Stanford? I emailed all three (McFarland, Powell, Loeb) in late Nov/early Dec and haven't heard a peep FYI for those of you who haven't heard from Harvard about interviewing, I've heard they'll be inviting people continuously into February so I wouldn't give up hope yet. (Mine was last Thursday with the CIS director and my POI)
  13. Hahaha, no worries CAda! Interview went so-so y'all. I think the research part was really strong (they asked things like where I saw myself on the micro/meso/macro spectrum, am I quant/qual/mixed) but then one of the interviewers sort of misinterpreted a question I asked as meaning something about a negative perception of the program that I don't have at all and I wasn't really able to recover or explain myself so. So. WHO KNOWS. At least I made it this far, which is encouraging with regards to reapplying should that be necessary down the road.
  14. SoCalGuy (and all other interested parties), here's the link to the thread I was referring to just now: Highlights: about 200 posts about us thinking March 1 was The Day when it actually wasn't. The time we tried to decide if we could hack the system with the application link from a 2011 student. About two pages of banter about what exactly comprises a "graduate student" wardrobe, multiple panic attacks about financial aid confirmation emails, and an entire page of .gifs thanks to CQE. In short, we went a little cray cray.
  15. Nope, all EdM decisions went out en masse the afternoon of March 8th last year. This was about a week later than they went out in 2012 (if you read last year's beast of a thread closely, you'll notice a Tuesday we literally all convinced ourselves it was going to be THE day.....and it wasn't.) but I don't think I've heard of them going earlier than March anytime over the last few years. I believe EdLDs and EdDs were notified in late February last year, which was not unusual.
  16. Hi CAda, unfortunately I have no clue. Mine is a phone interview this Thursday morning (I'm CIS) so the most I can say is that it definitely isn't an "ok let's fly out all the HDLTs this Saturday and have them make the rounds" type of thing that I know it to be at some other schools.
  17. FYI I pounced on pretty much every EdD student I know around campus today and exactly zero of them had to interview so this must be a new thing for the PhD (the EDLDs have definitely had to interview in years past). They probably haven't gotten the science of the timing of it down just yet since so much is new this year. February will come soon enough for all of us, for better or for worse
  18. SheWrote - you are far too kind Cheers to all of us! Benefactor - uh, probably. I think I posted Saturday afternoon. I guess it was a fast turnaround, they wanted me to respond by like 3pm Monday or something and the interview is Thursday. I guess I didn't think about it as a short turn around because I didn't have much else to say besides an immediate YES PLEASE! Red Eye - I'll let Rob (hi Rob! It's Cortney! How was Japan?!?!) share his undoubtably eloquent insight, but from knowing a bunch of both EDLD and SLP kids, the trend (not the rule) seems to be that the EDLD attracts those with prior leadership experience (principal, administrator/dean, grade coach, etc.) and are looking to move to a "higher" level, whether that be moving from the school to district level, moving from suburban to urban, etc. Whereas SLP seems to be those who have prior teaching experience and are looking to move into a leadership role (aka be a principal) either at the school they originally came from or otherwise. Both are great groups of people, just aiming at slightly different points
  19. Yes, around 4pm today (Saturday). Although Google was down for a couple hours yesterday afternoon and Harvard email runs through gmail so it was either a fluke that washed up late or they truly are doing it in waves. Or maybe someone that got an request yesterday already declined and I was on the "invitation wait list" so to speak. Not sure, but either way, I wouldn't give up hope yet!
  20. Oh also, as a further point of information, my POIs were Dr. Bridwell-Mitchell (who also wrote one of my recommendations), Dr. Higgin's (who I've had ongoing conversations with about my PhD interests and took a course from last semester), and Dr. LaMonte (in Sociology at GSAS). My interview will be with Dr. Higgin's and Dr. Levinson (who I've never heard of). Honestly, I feel like Dr. Bridwell-Mitchell is the clear choice for my potential primary advisor so I'm not sure if this means they think Dr. Higgin's should be instead and I consequently need to change my tune a little to stress Social Networks less and meso level analysis more? Or maybe it was just luck of the draw in terms of who was available to interview?
  21. Just got the invitation email! It came literally five minutes after I'd curled up in a ball and resigned myself to having to go to back to work for sure next year. Thank you for that roller coaster, universe!
  22. CONGRATS on the invitations guys! Were any of these invitation emails for CIS concentrators?
