  1. Got Madison and Yale today! I'm liking my results this year. I have absolutely no idea when I'm going to visit. Honestly, I havn't even begun to plan visit weekends yet. Now that my application season is pretty much over I'm going to start planning stuff. Pretty sure Stanford is my top choice - I somehow managed to find another professor (Kanan) who I'm interested in. Must have accidentally looked over his webpage before... don't know how???
  2. I get more pumped for Stanford every day. I would really like to hear back from Columbia though - I hope they still have some offers to make! Anyone got info on Columbia's admissions perchance?
  3. This is the best. Awesome. Congratulations!
  4. Just got a Georgia Tech acceptance; they also granted me a GT Presidential Fellowship. As for visitation weekends... it's very hard for me to skip days on my current job, so I may just choose my top two or three schools and visit those all in a row if it's possible (I havn't checked the feasibility of that yet). I wish I had the time to visit all of them though. I've heard that visitation days are very fun.
  5. I said earlier it seemed slow... and then I got accepted into UW Seattle and Santa Barabara within the hour or so. With acceptances at those two schools and Stanford, it seems like I'll be enjoying the sun on the west coast this coming fall. Can't wait! Still want to hear from Columbia though!
  6. Does it seem like things are moving kind of slow right now? Schools seem to be taking their sweet time
  7. For those of you who also got into Stanford - I received my invitation through mail but never got an email from a specific faculty. Is this something I should expect, or do candidates receive emails based upon subfield or contact preference of the professors? Also, has anyone heard back from Columbia yet?
  8. Well, just got accepted into Stanford. Guess I fooled them! Super excited!
  9. Hi guys. So I've been creeping heavily on this website for awhile now and decided to contribute a little somethin-somethin too. Here's my stats, etc: Interest: Materials/Inorganic School: LAC, regionally known GPA: 3.99/4.0 (valedictorian) GRE general: Q: 157 (71%), V: 159 (80%), AW: 4.5 (73%) GRE chemistry: 780 (70%) Research: 2 years of research at home institution (2 publications, not peer-reviewed so probs don't matter), 2 summer research experiences Other: Lots of teaching: 2 years of TA'ing at undergrad institution and currently teach intro chem for undergrads at a top public school. Also have a shizload of departmental awards, PBK; does this even matter? I heard from my current employer that my LORs are excellent. Schools I'm applying to: Stanford, Columbia, Northwestern, UW-Madison, Santa Barbara, UWashington, Georgia Tech, Yale Anyways, I'm posting this becuase after perusing this website many, many times, I still have no idea how strong my applications package is. Friggin' GRE, you know? I havn't heard from any schools yet. I'd be interested to hear feedback on my application - I'm willing to trade opinions.
