  1. I like that outfit 42ed And no, I'd say that the length in the photo I posted is fine, but on a 5' tall frame, a few inches above my knee is literally half way up my thigh lol so I have to err on the side of caution. I had a hell of a time finding a dress with a neckline that was appropriate for me as well, I'm also a 34D so it's a real bitch finding jackets that fit properly that aren't too big everywhere else.. it's just annoying. And how about shoes... I'm going with black almond toe pumps, but if I had the cash I'd probably get some silver cap toed beige one from Piperlime.. but alas I am broke.. obviously. Anyone still believe the rule about strictly black shoes? I know that peeps are still a no-no.. but really is a little color so damning?
  2. So, besides the obvious (nothing above the knee, cover those shoulders, avoid looking like you don't care).. anything that people know to be a kiss of death? Or better yet, are there stuffy old rules that we can toss out the window (for example, no one ever needs to wear nude tights outside of a Hooters. Ever.). All I'm saying is, I have this dress from White House Black Market that is decidedly not solid black.. (black, white, and beige color blocking) but you know what? I think it looks perfect and I'm only 5 feet tall so it hits just at my knees. I'll wear a black blazer over it and I will stand out a little. So what about everyone else? What are you wearing?
  3. School: UNC - chapel hill Area: Clinical PhD Rationalization: Well, according to the results thing someone else who has the same exact GRE scores as me but with a 3.92 (I definietly do not have a 3.92) got shot down too. So now I don't feel so bad. I really liked the work done by my favorite POI there though, so that's disappointing. Word: Schucks. Applied: Clinical PhD's- UNC, EMU, UT, GSU, WashU, U Cinnci. MS - Brenau, GSU, Augusta, UT Interview: EMU Rejected: UNC (implicit) Accepted: ...
  4. So a few masters programs results are posted here, but not all. So does anyone know of a site that does the same thing with masters programs? I applied to mostly phd programs, but as a backup i also applied to Brenau, Augusta, GSU, and U Toledo for master of psychology and clinical mental health programs.
  5. Ok so maybe not a shoe in, but it must mean you're ahead of the pack right? I have not been one of those lucky people, unfortunately. I see several schools whose mass interview invites tend to or officially go out in January/February but there are a hand full of people in the Results page who were called or emailed by a POI as early as December. I mean seriously, if a professor is calling you to talk that's more than just a subtle hint. So my question is, given how few people are accepted, when there are possibly 5 or more people being contacted by POI's weeks before the rest of us get a generic invite... What chances do the rest of us have? Don't the ones with early contact have a leg up?
  6. Yes, 4 masters programs so far (Brenau, Augusta, georgia state, and university of Toledo). What I meant by first wave was people who were contacted for interviews before the mass emails for invites (like at UNC) and those who were emailed or called by POIs. I know wait lists are a long shot, but i was referring to those who are contacted with the rest of the herd as opposed to those lucky early birds.
  7. The part that really gets me is when, for example, UNC chapel hill says all invites will be sent the 25th but on the results page I've seen a hand full of people contacted by POI's for phone/skype interviews as well as actual invites. It's just so nerve wracking. I wish they'd just set dates for results and have everyone find out the same day to spare my blood pressure.
  8. I don't know about anyone else, but watching people getting interview invites, phone interviews, and POI contact from some of the universities I applied to is like taking one to the gut. My assumption is that first wave invites will be the most likely to get accepted. So, clearly, I keep wondering about the odds for second wavers. Anyone have any input, data, or experience related to whether second wavers have a shot?? Applied to: UNC chapel hill, University of Toledo, University of Cincinnati, Georgia State, Eastern Mich, WUSTL Invites: none yet... rejections: ... Accepted: ...
