  1. Guess I never got to posting my stuff. Here's my wrap-up anyway. Undergrad: Top 10 school (USNWR) Majors: Biology, Music Minor: Chemistry GPA in Biology: ~3.1 (last 2 yrs was >3.5) Overall GPA: ~3.2 (last 2 yrs was >3.5) GRE percent: Q/V in the 90s, W/Bio in the 70s Research Exp: Pretty much all over Biology, looking to focus now on what I did in the main lab I worked in as an undergrad. Got BS a couple of years ago, have had a bunch of science jobs in all different fields since. Have a mid-authorship in a mid-tier journal, couple conference talks, etc. Misc: I thought my application was strong except for the very bad GPA. Looking back I think the most important thing to have in the apps is momentum, and by that I mean having a serious desire to go to graduate school beyond just going through the motions as an undergrad. Still Waiting: Harvard OEB, UT-Austin PB Rejected: No interview: UNC-CH BBSP, NYU Biology, Rice BCB Declined interview: UVM CMB, NCSU Genetics, NCSU Biochem Post-interview: CSHL-WSBS Waitlisted: Brown MCB Accepted: UT-Austin ICMB, Yale BBS, Dartmouth MCB, UMD-CP BISI, UMass-Amherst MCB, UMass-Amherst PB Heading to Yale!
  2. got the official NYU Biology rejection for PhD by way of an acceptance for the unfunded MS, lol no thanks
  3. UT-Austin CMB acceptance! looks like I'm going to grad school after all!
  4. interview invite from NC State Biochemistry! not that it's been mentioned here...
  5. NYT just did a "36 hours" piece in Durham http://travel.nytimes.com/2013/01/20/travel/36-hours-in-durham-nc.html?pagewanted=all&_r=0
  6. I'm doing both of their 2nd weekends, Brown is Feb 8-9 and Yale is Feb 14-17. Pretty pumped for my insane 8-week schedule
  7. @flat_rhino it was via email btw have fun touring UNC, people that made it. Their Genome Sciences building was finished last August. It has an Ikea-like vibe to it (in a good way) with a Starbucks on the ground floor and a glowing double helix staircase running up the middle. Weather's great here too.
  8. yeah. there were "1,200 applications for 80 slots"
  9. UNC's dropping bombs. I hated those tarholes anyway
