  1. Hi Jakem, first of all - let me advise you to switch to gmail - you would not need to check your e-mail at all. On your PC or Mac you just need to keep it open, and it will inform you when you get a new e-mail. On your iphone or android it just informs you even when the gmail app is not running. (I don't know how it works for other types of phones). And I agree with you - you have done what you could. After that the result does not really matter. On the other hand I know why I want to be admitted by a top school - just to know - what it is - to study at one of the best universities in the world. To use those facilities. Just to feel everything. But I am completely sure that there is no a bad school in the USA. The competition is so strong so even in small schools there are exceptional scientists that come from all over the world. Any school gives a really great education, and it only up to students what to do with the lives after they finish. Personally I hope to be admitted by any school I applied - I would be happy. But if I get admitted by a top school - I would get more dopamine, which shortly (after a year of study for sure) I would stop getting. Because it will be just a study. A top school does not promise you the best career. Only You, yourself, can promise that. At the end, we all just want to be happy
  2. Hi braaaaaiinnns! Hi stmwap! Thanks! Yes, gradstudents tend to be self-involved. May be Invitation of those who you like to your birthday party or make-something-up party could help to become closer with someone. Sometimes university activities help. Also guys can play soccer or something. Or tutor undergraduates. When I studied at a gradschool in the USA (MS degree), I was also a bit shocked. But I thought it was because I was a foreigner. I guess it's a universal thing
  3. Hi stmwap, Thanks! - Do you remember when you got your invites to the inteviews? And how - via e-mail, phone call etc? - Which ones did you attend? - How usually interviews go? Is it actually clear for you why some Universities accepted you and some did not? - How is the study so far?
  4. 'When then are you going to start your career - when you are 50?' Stupid.
  5. The worst was UCLA - I am using Chrome and copy-paste does not work there. Unfortunately I have not thought about checking that in other browsers. Anyway, it's not the worst part. To some point I managed to finish everything and was about to submit the application. And it did not let me go through. I have no idea why they have some weird choice of where the LORs go but the problem was that I chose the wrong destination - for all the recommenders. So it did not let me to submit it because it could not 'see' the recommendation letters. The Tech Support told me that all the letters are electronically sealed and cannot be re-send to where it's needed. So I have to contact the institution. I did. I contacted the institution. They just deleted all the LORs. And it was the day before the deadline. So that's how I could not apply to UCLA. --- The best application service is UCSB's! It's just perfect. Especially after all the fights with UCLA and Stanford. I just can't get it - those schools are the best in the world - how can they have so poor application services?
  6. Of course he is interested in you I would reply with the same tone as his was - not too excited, just gratitude and politeness. I just would be sincere - since I am interested in him, then I would say that I enjoyed the conversation too, very glad that I am accepted and look forward to seeing him too. Thanks etc. Congratulations, btw!
  7. Contact the program administrator Ross Colvin by e-mail. He will tell you.
  8. This is funny. Unbelievable. Something that can't be made up:
  9. Thank you. Ross Colvin - him? How long did you wait for the reply?
  10. ryancho, Could you please crarify - you pointed that got rejected by Stanford. Have you received an e-mail or something official or you just concluded that (they did not invite you)?
  11. Are there people who apply to Neuroscience program for at least a second time? I applied only to two schools this year, and it seems that I will not be accepted by neither. So I am going to apply to at least 10 next year.
  12. Congratulations! I edited my post because I found out the procedure of being invited: if the admission committee decides to invite you, they send out your application to all the professors, whom you listed as your research interest. And the committee will arrange meetings with almost all of them (depends on their schedule) during your 4-day visit.
