Congrats! I've heard the Balkans are amazing. Someday I want to do a Croatia-Greece trip. I'm just hesitant right now because I'm a little paranoid. I know Bosnia and Montenegro are pretty safe now, but I don't know about Albania... I'm probably just ignorant though.

Don't quote me on this, but I don't think so. If I get alternate I think I'm just going to decline because I've strung along grad schools long enough as it is.

Phone+service for the entire year ended up being less than $100. I didn't use it very much though.

I just got an iPhone 5 so all I'd have to do is switch out the SIM. I think you can look up online whether your phone is "international" or not. Last year when I was in Sweden I just bought a super cheap phone and a pay as you go plan. I did most of my social planning, etc on Facebook anyway.

Haha not me! I only found out about fulbright 3 weeks before it was due! Luckily the prof I contacted in Norway was amazing and helped me develop the project and write his letter of affiliation in about a week. I think he was going to hire a postdoc to do the project I proposed anyway so he was all over it. Free labor for him

Don't be impatient now, just relish the wait . I have read that some researchers have shown that for a lot of things like vacations, the anticipation brings more happiness than the vacation itself. Hi everyone, so I thought I'd point out today is the 6-month anniversary of the application due date. We have literally been waiting for half a year.
