  1. For me, it was first through email and snail mail took a week later.
  2. On (2), I think they mean total number of applications. i read somewhere that they accept 50-67% of Finalists. ~Ibrahim~
  3. Thank you! The same for you, Ms. Austria!!!
  4. Well...I did want to be an astronaut when I was little. Congrats on the Divemaster; it looks like an awesome position! Perhentian Islands: OK, I can't look at that for too long because I will stop studying and practice swimming in my swim team's pool, bahaha.
  5. So true! A friend of mine went to South Africa and did this; they loved it! So, I did in Ecuador a few summers ago, and it was a HUGE hit! I kept having to make more copies.
  6. I'm unsure what made them pick me, but I got a Fulbright ETA to Malaysia! BlueLight: I wasn't joking about those SCUBA lessons, -- If anyone is curious, the email subject heading was "Fulbright Application Status (P)" and it was sent at about noon (updated the Google Doc).It has that extra (P) which I hadn't seen before...not sure if that means anything. -- Whatever your status is, I know things will work out! I applied for a scholarship in October and got rejected on the first stage. Other things will work out!
  7. Yeah, we Malaysian folk (with 75 ETA spots available) will keep this thread alive, too. Congrats to everyone who made it, good luck alternates, and for those who didn't make it: it is still huge you made it that far and things--whatever way they will-will work out!
  8. Another Malaysia ETA candidate! I knew there had to be some of us out there...Yup, yesterday came and went. :-/ But, no news is still good news so far, right? @BlueLightSpecial: Haha, right! As a graduating senior, it is slowly becoming crunch time. Hey, if we both get it and accept it, maybe you can show me a bit about SCUBA diving! It sounds really fun, but I've never done it. @r0manar0und: really nice find on that PDF! It sounds so exciting. Gosh, it makes me even more pumped about it (if I get it)! -- To alternates: I think I posted this already, but I can't find it, haha. I know a friend who just finished an ETA in Malaysia. In fact, she applied to Indonesia, but she didn't make it past the final review stage (not sure if rejection or alternate). But, then, the Fulbright Board called and offered her a spot in Malaysia! So, I think they do really care about you if you're an alternate. And, interestingly, it seems like Malaysia/Indonesia sort of plan their Fulbright grantees together...but even Indonesia last year was notified this week.
  9. I was Google'ing for this thread and accidentally stumbled onto last year's (2012-2013...it's deceptive with that 2013 in the title). I saw like 15 posts of people getting accepted and furiously checked my email. Nothing. Then I saw a post about an alternate moving to accepted and I thought, "well, it's pretty early for alternates, right?" And then I saw the date. One piece of good news: one of my friends last year applied for an ETA in Indonesia. She made it to the final review, but didn't get it because they ran out of spots. So, instead, they offerred her one to MALAYSIA! I don't want to give false hope, but if you're a good candidate, I think Fulbright genuinely cares about that.
