Bah, Oregon rejected me today. It wasn't exactly a good fit with any of my POIs there, but living on the west coast would have been really nice. Only UC-Riverside and UC-San Diego left to go before I make my decision.
-
I graduated this December, so three of my schools got all but my final semester grades and five got my entire transcript. This kind of sucked because I made Dean's List my final semester and some schools didn't get to see that.

Beer festival!? Lucky! I think my friends are more excited about this than I am, if that's possible. They already dragged me to happy hour

Getting accepted on a Friday--doesn't get much better than that! Congratulations!

I was just notified of my acceptance into the MA History program at UConn. I am still waiting on a few more applications but as of right now, UConn is my top choice. I know absolutely nothing about Storrs or the surrounding area.
-
Thanks all, it really means a lot I only have three apps left to hear back from, but I'm very excited that I will have to make a choice!

After being transferred 5 different times, I got the good news that UConn accepted me for their MA program. The POI there is really great and I hope I can attend.

I used the one posted above.

SWEET. Well, I emailed and called (no one answered) so i guess it's another day of waiting. This will be really disappointing if it's a rejection.
-
The email says "A decision has been made on your application. Please log-in to view the decision." Then provides me a link to my application log-in. I log-in and there is nothing new to view, just a review of my submitted application. I go to the check your application link within my application and it says my status is "submitted." I don't know how I could be missing anything here.
-
The application status still says "incomplete" and there are no messages or new materials for me to view. I've clicked on every clickable link in the application, and frantically I may add haha.
-
I got an email from the grad admissions generic email at UConn saying check my application because a decision was made, but nothing has changed. This seems like protocol for a rejection though.

I wanna know who got into Oregon's MA program! They have a couple profs there that would be really great fits for me and I was hoping to get in there.

20th-century U.S. Political and Intellectual History; Radicalism; Age I sort of stumbled into this sub-field I guess. I initially wanted to research the 1960s "hippie" culture, but after doing a literature review of a number of monographs about the 1960s student movement, I discovered the New Left. What started as a relatively easy undergrad thesis topic turned into a behemoth project. Ended up spending my spring break in Madison researching in their archives going over box after box of materials. I ended up linking the failure of the movement to ageism. Now, I don't necessarily want to pigeon-hole myself by using age as a mode of analysis for every project, but it certainly paints a much different picture than an analysis that relies on gender, ethnicity, or socioeconomic status.

Offer holders, how do you make your final decision?
History Time replied to aaiiee's topic in History
What is the best way of saying "I'm not sure I want to accept your offer because I think better ones may be coming." I want to express my gratitude and excitement of being accepted, but there is no way I can commit to something this early. -
I was accepted today Illinois State. It's my backup school, but getting an acceptance feels really great. The waiting season is just that much easier now.

I just burst out laughing in the library and had three tables by me turn and glare. Thank you so much for that dry dry dry humor.

Well, first news of the year. Rejection from Indiana. I applied for PhD with MA consideration so I'm assuming I have been wholly rejected.

I've been going to school in MN and living in WI my whole life, so being somewhere warm is one of the big factors for me. I'm also really excited to get away from the undergraduate crowd at my university. This school is especially notorious for attracting seedy and irresponsible students. I enjoy drinks as much as anyone, but I'm really tired of people who only like drinks and aren't interested in anything intellectual.

Silence is really killing me. No word good or bad from anyone. My friend says he's planning a sympathy trip to his parents' vacation home in Northern California for me this spring if I don't get accepted anywhere

Does anyone have any information on filing for FAFSA as an independent student? Obviously I don't make a lot of money because I only hold a part-time job. Is it advantageous to only report my earnings or should I include my mother's in this? Any help is appreciated! Oh and we're under a foot of snow and more coming down. I'm delivering food tonight until 10pm then going sledding in the fresh snow to take my mind off the application season

I practice "drunk history" on my friends when we go out. Sometimes I totally make things up just to watch them go, "Oh wow! I never knew that!" Bunch of computer science guys

How about a little Tom Petty on this slow Friday while we're "waiting?"

Mine says "submitted." I applied for PhD with MA consideration.
