  1. I am applying for both the congressional– and executive branch AAAS Fellowships. Both require 3 letters each. Whom should I ask (e.g., professional, political appointees, government, NGO sector)?
  2. Can someone help me manipulate how I view the general results of my survey data. I would like to filter the results by answers and also by demographics. Or maybe how I can do this view Excel of another program?
  3. CONGRATS TO ALL THOSE JUST FINDING OUT...I.E. CHINA, TURKEY, ETC. I havent been on in while. Sorry to those who got alternate! Hopefully more funding will open up and you too will be on your way! Stay positive.
  4. I believe you heard back around the same time as me. Have you gotten any packets or other information from Fulbright? I live in DC so can walk my passport over the embassy like I always do- but I havent heard anything else so not sure when I should start "doing things"
  5. Hey did you find out about the SSA FB group?
  6. Ummmm I am far to busy lol- but will happily join if someone does the honor of creating it. I'm in the middle of finalizing my proposal and advancing to candidacy. I know you know what that means from your name.
  7. Has anyone started a Facebook group for those going to Sub-Saharan African Countries? BTW Congrats to all those who just heard back!
  8. I think they find more funding rather than people turning down Fulbright. Just a thought though.
  9. Haha...I've never really got into blogging. Its so hard for me to stay on task. But hey I might try it if it doesnt distract me from writing my dissertation.
  10. No im not nervous at all. I worked there for USAID last year and had an amazing time. Byfar one of the "fun-est" African countries I've been to. DRC is the 2nd largest African country and the fighting that is happening is on the Rwandan border, which is very far from Kinshasa and from where I will be conducting my research. So yeah, I'm looking at how deforestation and degradation is affecting regional water cycling, ecosystem services for livelihoods and also meso-scale and global climate change.
  11. I prefer a slow yes than a quick no. Words of advice to those out there that are still waiting.
  12. Yeah - for DRC its says you can start the grant between August 2013 and May 2014. That's kind of weird to me...as most other people have specific dates. I just want more information and less flexibility.
  13. Hey quick question for those conducting doctoral or even masters level research for their Fulbright. I am looking for analysis methods for conducting survey. If you have any suggestions or insights I'd love to have a conversation with you..bounce some ideas off you.
  14. Is there a facebook group for SSA?
  15. For those who got accepted for full grants do you know when we have to depart? I know August, but when....
  16. Congrats! Its been a long time coming
  17. Selected for Fulbright to DRC!!!
  18. This was startling! reading every word was like a page turner. I have known since finding the aggregating Google Doc that decision would be made late April so just been muddling along sending congrats to those who started to hear in March...but this news....this news....lol my palms are sweating lmao! I'm excited, nervous sick, and confident at the same damn time #2Chains voice lol. I guess I will stay tuned until next week.
  19. Looks like Sub-Saharan Africa people will be waiting until the very last minute. April 21st seems like ages away but I guess after waiting this long a few more week wont hurt. sheeesh
  20. Congrats to all those selected for ETA's and Full grants to Turkey!
  21. Yes I have been before. I worked with USAID there last year. I'm doing my doctoral research there. I am looking and the ecological effects and social drivers of deforestation in DRC: A case study on a specific landscape. Not sure how detailed you wanted me to get so I kept it vague. What about you? Have you been to Ethiopia and what is your project? A good friend of mine is a US Dip in Addis - I'll be visiting her there in a few weeks
  22. Yes glad to find another Africa. I applied for a full research grant what about you?
  23. Congrats official Fulbrighter(s)!!!! I am anxiously waiting and by the looks of the Google Spread Sheets, I'll be waiting for a long time. Congo-Kinshasa does't seem to notify until late April. I'm praying and hoping for good news either way - seems it would be worth the wait.
  24. Finalist for the scholars Fulbright! Super excited to find out whats next. #FulbrightDRC
