  1. Usually for anthro, you obtain your MA along the Ph.D track. so either way you're can get your MA first along the way. Btw, have you visited berkeley? For an anthro dept, it's pretty cut-throat/competitive, which is interesting. If you do get in, stay clear of dr. nancy scheper hughes, i went to visit the campus a year back to consider applying and she's probably one of the "grumpiest' (putting it nicely) professors/professionals I've encountered. Although, the other faculty members are highly renowned. good luck!
  2. I can't speak for UVa, but that quote is pure trash. Like I tell all students agonizing for the "top schools", going for higher education is like driving a car. Even if you have a REALLY EXPENSIVE, if you're a sh!tty driver, it doesn't matter what kind of car you drive, you'll still be a sh!tty driver. Don't think about reputations, it's a waste of time. You can make any program, with any adviser prestigious it's all up to how much effort you put in. sorry for the rant, I grew up on Southern California riding the "reputation" theme to death Good luck
  3. Just got an email for acceptance into MA program at WSU (washington state university) Socio-cultural. WOOO!
  4. While I read of others getting rejection letters/ acceptance letters/ interviews, I've yet to hear one squeak, ringing, email, or even a status update for the universities I applied to.... Anyone else in the same predicament? Should I be worried or thankful since I have yet to even receive rejection letters... D: Applied: Uconn, WSU (Washington state) U of washington (UW) Uchicago Upenn
  5. From the looks of the results page, quite a few hear/accepted/rejected from Duke. Good luck to ya. we're all on this mess of a boat...at least for a couple more months.
  6. Anyone hear back from: -UPENN -UChicago -UCONN -University of Washington -Washington State University for their socio-cultural MA/Ph. D programs? This limbo period blows hard. Never felt so paranoid, insane, gittery in my life @_@....
