It looks like I did not gain admittance to any Ph.D program for this cycle, but I received acceptance letters from CSU Chico and CSU Long Beach. I am still waiting for CSULA. For those of you who are familiar with the CSU system, which CSU would you suggest I attend? My goal is to apply to a Ph.D program right after I earn my Master's degree in Political Science. I researched the following schools to see if they had information on their students entering Ph.D. programs, but I am unable to find much information, so I thought it would be best if I asked here. Thanks!

Does it matter where I go for my Master's? I'm planning to attend a CSU college in California to earn my Master's before applying to the PhD program again.

Well, it looks like I was officially rejected from all the PhD programs I applied for. I e-mailed an assistant and they told me that my stats were slightly lower than the average admitted applicant. I didn't exactly plan for this, so for those of you in similar positions, what are you planning to do?

Hi, I still haven't received a reply back from some schools I've applied for, while others have already received replies back. Would it be recommended to e-mail the graduate director to check the status of my application? If so, what would be a good way to phrase the e-mail? For example, should I mention the professor I hope to work with? Thanks!

Well...just got rejected from Irvine. Wow, this hurts. I'm not even sure what I'm planning to do anymore. I also got rejected from Davis. I'm waiting to hear back from Santa Cruz, but it doesn't seem too likely because it seems like they've already sent out all their acceptances.

Any news from UCSC? The application status page tells me that admission decisions will be sent out throughout the month of March, but it looks like some people were accepted already.

I thought someone was already rejected, and I also read that those who are "being reviewed" are on the waitlist. I think it's about time for me to stop checking GATS.

Do schools generally send e-mails right after the results are released, or do you have to log into the system to find out?

I applied to a few graduate programs, but I am starting to plan out my next year if I don't get admitted to any of the schools I applied for. Unfortunately, I was unable to spend much time on my GRE because of time commitment, but I might be taking it again if I don't get into any of the schools I applied for. I'm new to this forum, and after looking at all the stats here, I'm beginning to feel doubtful of application to various UCs and CSUs. Many of my TAs suggested that I apply to a Master's program before I think about a Ph.D. program, but I'm starting to feel that my stats may not be high enough. I don't want to post my stats here, but I'd like some honest opinions. I'm thinking about gaining more experience before entering graduate school now because I'm not sure if my stats are competitive enough. While I feel that I have great experiences, I can't help but feel doubtful. Do I stand a chance of being admitted to any of these schools, or should I start job hunting for more experience?
