Mine was scheduled for march 6th, but I'm still in undergrad right now and that's the week before finals (and i would've had to miss 3 days of class to go bc of the way the bus schedules work) so I rescheduled for march 20th which is during my break. Now I have even longer to wait, haha!

oh awesome, good luck!! i have my NYMC interview in a couple weeks. i went to their open house back in december and i was very impressed by the program. St. Johns told me they couldn't accept my app because they don't accept applications from students who haven't taken the prerequisite courses. I knew this before I applied, but the SLP I shadowed told me to apply anyway. It was worth a shot, but didn't pan out! i think they're deferring my application to the spring 2014 pool (so i could take prereqs this coming fall), but I wouldn't have wanted to do that unless it was my only option

i applied to columbia, nyu, and nymc. well, actually i technically applied to st johns as well. I shadowed an SLP there this summer and she said I should apply even though I didn't have the prereqs, but after i submitted my app, i got a call from the director of admissions saying that they couldn't accept my application for this cycle. so i'm not really sure whats happening with that! where is your interview tomorrow? good luck, you'll be great!!!

I am from New York as well! Unfortunately, though, I'm an out of field applicant so that kept me from applying to most of the NY schools. But I did apply to 3! Hoping to hear sometime soon...good luck to both of you!

for those of you who mentioned a vanderbilt open house for accepted students, do you know if it's one specific day? or is it still that you can visit any monday or friday?

i put a lot of thought into whether or not to apply there (because my family and undergrad institution are very influenced by rankings), but I ultimately decided against it because it's very far from where my family lives and there's not much around there that I am familiar with--though I'm sure it is a wonderful program. I ended up only applying to schools in cities or near cities because I'm early 20s coming straight out of college and would love a city environment for grad school (in addition to amazing clinical opportunities that cities provide). So, I only ended up applying to one school in the top 10, but I don't personally think that US news rankings matter all that much anyway (contrary to the beliefs of my family/undergrad)!

no i havent gotten my confirmation either! i called brie at 4 and she said said she was still in the process of sending them and they should all be sent out by 5:30. dont worry!

yeah i mean they might not literally recalculate it but if someone has a 3.8 and they have A+'s in their GPA (that are worth over a 4.0 when theyre averaged in) and someone else has a 3.8 and the school doesn't give A+'s, they're going to view the 3.8 without A+'s as a higher GPA

thats why CSDCAS drops them (and my undergrad doesnt use A+ either). for grad programs that don't use CSDCAS, they find out whether or not undergrad institutions use A+ and incorporate that info, so it's not gonna hurt you. the programs usually recalculate everyone's GPA anyway so it's more standardized

just got an interview email from bu!!

first round meaning that qualified applicants have to go through two rounds of interviews? or first round meaning some interviewees will find out this week and some will find out later?? i just thought they said all interviews were feb 22-24

so did BU imply that interview invites were being sent in the mail?

hi! did your NYMC interview request from the new york medical college email account? or did it come from jo kert? i've had issues in the past getting emails from the NYMC email account (they tried sending one email to me three times and I never got it) so I want to make sure the email got through if I got an interview! The problem is I'll have no way of knowing if the email didn't get through or if I just didn't get an interview and I don't want to be presumptuous. Any suggestions?? i submitted my app in december, so I would think that if I were to get an interview, I would've heard by now, right?

don't think BU interviews have gone out yet, so don't worry! i thought it'd be this week but dont think anyone has heard. but anyway, do we know if no interview means we def didnt get in?
