  1. I was put on the waitlist by the University of Hawaii in back in Feb. Then accepcted off it one month later. I am currently on three other waitlists
  2. University of Hawaii, Psychology PhD Going to work with an omfg faculty.
  3. University of Hawaii MA/PhD social psych!
  4. My potential advisor basically told me "this is a big city, so you should be able to find a job". So let me get this straight, my funding will come from working at the local Burger King, and tuition remission will only be given if I work as a cashier, and not as a burger flipper.
  5. I am guessing if she's retiring soon, then she wouldn't have accepted a student. My worry stems from the possibility of an "unplanned" retirement due to old age. (God forbids) One of my current professors told me that his graduate school advisor expired during his third year into the program, and it took a while for him to recover from that mess.
  6. The study in question has been replicated many times. But since It's not a perfect correlation, there will always be exceptions.
  7. Is it okay to email your potential advisor to ask for contact information of his/her current graduate students? On the other hand, is it alright to ask him/her if they are planning on retiring any time soon? Because I have this horrible fear that my advisor might not last thru my graduate school years due to her age.
  8. Actually, they've done a study on this. It turns out that there's a strong direct correlation between GRE score and the number of papers published by the time the students get their Ph.D.
  9. I can attest to the fact that the GRE scores have little to no criterion validity. I got a 1420, and I am like the dumbest person east of Mississippi (sp?). The only place that I have been admitted to is a program that didn't conduct interview...sucks to be them
  10. hi lauren, Which professor did you apply to work with? Because if it's the same professor that I applied to work with, that means it's a no for me... :|
  11. not sure about if making fun of her menstrual cycle counts as harrassing....
  12. or C. Sexual harrassing girls on interview weekends didn't exactly help my cause either
  13. I know I did well on the GRE (670V 750Q). My complaint is that people scoring much lower then me are getting into top programs while I am getting rejected by places like Arizona and Missouri
  14. So is that the key to interview success? (Goes and gets an eye job)
  15. I haven't heard back from any school that interviewed me. So, yes! It is very possible to completely screw up interviews! I guess I just looked smarter on paper than in person
