  1. Hey was looking for anyone attending UA this fall? Tuscaloosa campus. I'm new. Just got accepted to the school psych program Just looking to see if there are any of us out here. Seems like I can't find anyone. Oh, If anyone is looking for a roommate let me know as well! I already know where i want to stay. Also, is anyone going to the graduate assistantship fair coming up?
  2. Never mind my previous post! I called the graduate department for clarification on what that meant. The lady could tell I was so worried that I was still in the "waiting process". She simply said that it meant I need to make sure I get that official letter for documentation and once that has reached me to contact the department. She then told me congratulations on my acceptance! I'm soo happy!!!!
  3. OK help!! I finally heard something back from one school. University of Alabama The department head emailed me to congratulate me on my recommendation from the faculty for admissions. They said it's conditional admissions (gre 10 points lower than what they wanted). After I screamed and celebrated this I went back and read the email again. It said that AFTER I received official acceptance or "word" back from the department to then email them with my decision. So...basically I have to wait until the graduate department accepts me? I have heard of the two part admissions processes but not in this order before. Usually it's the other way around, graduate department approves then they forward you to the department. I don't know how to take it. Should I be worried? Should I not celebrate anymore? It seems like the wait is never over.
  4. I would say that as long as they are nasp approved then they are good schools. In my opinion. Maybe you should check out the schools stats? See how many people are passing their exams? I think that is a great place to start. :-)
  5. Same here! I don't know many people that is applying to school psych, really any besides those I seen on the internet. Mostly all my friends are doing clinical. Nice to have someone going through the struggle with me!!! Thanks for letting me know about the new stats part! I'm going to look at that now. Have you checked the results part of the website? Search your schools or school psychology to see if anyone posted anything. =) It's good you are getting interviews though. You are on the right track! I can feel many acceptances coming your way
  6. Where have you applied to? The deadline for my first school (University of Alabama) just passed so I'm all anxious about it. My application was completed on nov 7th and the deadline was jan 15th. I literally have been waiting forever. Not clear about whether they do interviews or not. At first they said no but in their updated catalog they say "in some cases" they do interviews. My other school deadline isn't until March 15th...I'm always waiting. =( I'm glad I'm not the only one who had that focus on EdS. I felt like PhD was such a far stretch for me. I felt way more confident about EdS and I wasn't sure if I even wanted a PhD.
  7. Yes I applied to all EdS programs! I pretty much looked in the south for programs. I stay in Ga and I wanted to be close to home. I also wanted not only NASP approved programs but also those with enough hours. Ga says you have to go to a 72 hrs program to sit for the exam. I just never know what the competition is like for school psychology. I keep thinking about how competitive clinical psych is.
  8. Wow I didn't know it was a thread going already! I applied to University of Alabama and Georgia Southern University. Both Ed.S programs. My third school/option got pulled so I'm freaking out about only having 2 schools. =( About me: Gre eh OK, GPA above 3.0 but I feel it could be better, undergrad degree psychology (A's in 99% of my major courses/60 hrs!) and a lot of experience, mainly involving special education. Volunteered in a special needs classroom for about 5 years, worked in two research labs and did a lot research in one (socioeconomic autism trends in my state was my main focus) work as a teacher once a month in social group classes for children with autism, and I currently work in a severe/profound high school class =) Awesome LORs too I still feel like I am not competitive applicant. For a short period of time, during undergrad, I thought I was doing clinical psychology. It is so competitive so I assumed school psychology would be just like that. Then again, I know nothing.
  9. I joined gradcafe because I was interested in finding more people applying to school psych programs or have applied. Anybody Ed.S out there? Fall 2013 applicants? Any advice in general about applying, competition with Ed.S vs Ph.D, not pulling your hair out after that first deadline? Anything? Help? =sums up all my emotions currently
