  1. I also would like some input on Korbel, as I was accepted there as well. All I've been reading seems to consider it as a fringe top tier/second tier program. It was ranked 11 by Foreign Policy last year for international relations, which is solid. If it is the only place I get accepted I will definitely go, but right now I'm leaning towards options with better locations. My dream school is SIPA (Talk about grad debt hah) but Seton Hall's Whitehead is seeming more realistic at this point. I am pretty determined to go ahead and get my Master's right out of undergrad to get all of my schooling out of the way.
  2. Hey I have 2 questions if you don't mind answering: 1. How long did it take you to hear from Whitehead after you applied (I just submitted my app 3 days ago). 2. How much different are Korbel and SIS in terms of acceptance? I got into Korbel as well and was hoping that they were of similar acceptance rates because I really want to get into SIS as well.
  3. I actually never heard from an email. I randomly checked the website (webcentral) and saw the option to accept or decline my admissions. I called today and they confirmed that I was accepted and the actual emails just haven't been processed yet but should be going out tomorrow-ish.
  4. Accepted: DU Korbel - MA in International Studies Waiting on: American SIS, SIPA, (still might apply to Seton Hall Whitehead, which is rolling admissions)
  5. I had those two buttons as well. I clicked accept just to see what happens and it said "your decision has been saved, please confirm by sending your financial info"...woops.
  6. Schools Applying/Applied To: SIPA, Korbel, SIS Schools Admitted To: Schools Rejected From: Still Waiting: SIS, SIPA, Korbel Undergraduate institution: UNC Chapel Hill Undergraduate GPA: 3.68 (3.75 in Global Studies and 3.6 in Political Science) [Thanks Biology and intro to Poetry for tanking my GPA] Undergraduate Major: Global Stuies/Political Science/African Studies minor Foreign Languages: Kiswahili, French, Spanish GRE Quantitative Score: 160 GRE Verbal Score: 164 GRE AW Score: 5.0 Age: 21 Years of Work Experience: 0.5 Describe Relevant Work Experience and International Experience: Volunteered at the Kenya Human Rights Commission in Nairobi this past summer as well as serving as a Research Assistant second semester of my Junior year (on the Arab Spring). Strength of SOP (be honest, describe the process, etc): To be honest, I rushed my first two apps, so the only SOP I feel happy about is SIPA. I have trouble with open-ended SOPs, thus Columbia's was a lot easier for me to write on. Strength of LOR (be honest, describe the process, etc): All of my LOR are solid. One of mine is from a highly regarded professor here who has done work assisting with various constitutions (Egypt, South Sudan, etc.) and writes editorials for the New York Times. Long story short: Don't really expect to get in to any of these schools without work experience. Thought I'd give it a shot as I'd much rather get all of my schooling out of the way and not have to go back after entering the working world.
