Hey guys, I'm not sure if there are any other joint JD-MA people out there but I spoke with Tabbatha and if you are interested in hearing any more information, please PM me. Good luck to those still waiting - I know how painful this process is. I'm still waiting to hear from U of Ottawa for the JD.
-
Mine went through the exact same process (give or take a day or two) EXCEPT that I never received an email on March 18th, I think they just thought it would be more fun if I was in the dark for another week ;-) Good luck! :-)
-
Thanks guys! This is so surreal. I really thought I was going to be waitlisted. I am soo happy I waited till this afternoon to pay my deposit at Queen's. I saved myself $300! I am rooting for you @iamnicole and anyone else still waiting. I hope this gives you hope that they are definitely still assessing applicants!! :-)

I'm IN!!! SOO happy!!
-
It's funny how ours kind of changed in opposite ways as mine went from "Recommended for Assessment" to "Review in progress by Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Affairs." I swear they are just arbitrarily changing our statuses to give us hope
-
Just checked and sometime this afternoon my status changed from Recommended for Assessment to Review in progress by Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Affairs. I hope this is a good sign and that I will hear something soon! I was going to pay my deposit tomorrow from my Queen's JD-MPA acceptance but maybe I should wait one more day....
-
I'm also still waiting. I emailed Tabbatha but haven't heard a response. I need to take Econ this summer if I'm accepted and the enrollment for my university for summer classes is in it's third week and they are filing up! It would be nice to know where we stand at least. :-( I'll keep you posted if I hear a response from her! Good luck all!

I was really hoping to hear something by today! Oh well, I guess I get to wait through another long weekend.... Honestly, this stupid grad school application stuff is making me dread the weekends. My boyfriend thinks I'm crazy. :-D
-
Thanks Nicole, I was thinking of emailing but I guess I'll just continue to wait
-
Thank you for the details kdav!
-
My status still says "Recommended for Assessment". Kdav, is this what yours said before?
-
*And yes, I'm aware I'm every second post in this thread, haha. I guess I never realized how much I wanted NPSIA until today.*
-
Thank you to all the PM's and words of support I've received - you guys all seem awesome! Sadly, this just makes me want to go into the NPSIA program even more. And for the record it seems that they've accepted a mix of GPA's ranging from 3.2 to 3.9 and a mix of extracurricular's ranging from stellar to average. You all deserve your acceptances, I can only hope to join you soon :-)
-
Did you also get an email? I'm still waiting to hear something. My application says "Recommended for Assessment". Ugh. The wait is killing me.
-
Are you sure any of you guys don't want to turn down your spot? ;-) Thanks thunderchunky, all of the official communication I've received has told me that they are assessed individually. However, I have heard things from past students that says they do look at the joint applicants at a later date. I really don't know. I'm hoping for the best but preparing for the worst! Good luck all!

I've talked to both U of O law and NPSIA and they both said that they are not. I really thought I'd be in by now just because I was accepted into Osgoode and Queen's only days after my application was complete. I don't really understand how NPSIA chooses applications but I thought I at least understood law applications based on lawstudents.ca. Apparently not. Still nothing from U of O :-( As for NPSIA, I just decided this week that if I got accepted but not into law that I would prefer to do it then go to law school at Queen's or Osgoode - that's how awesome it sounds! Anyway, sorry for the over sharing, just a little bit stressed! Congrats again guys, I hope to be happy with you soon!
-
Those of you that are in, would you mind sharing your stats? I hate to be THAT person, but I'm going kind of crazy, haha. It would be nice to know if I'm in the comparative range or if y'all are just geniuses ;-) Thanks!
-
Congrats to all admitted! I'm so nervous, I'm checking my email every five minutes, this is NOT going to be a very productive day at work! Does anyone know how many students are admitted each year? Eeeek, I'm dying! I want to go to NPSIA so much!!
-
I have a friend doing the Master's of Strategic Studies and he absolutely loves it! I'm currently waiting to hear from NPSIA too. I think both are great programs. Hope to see you in Ottawa! :-D
-
Exactly the same situation for me, I also got into Queen's MPA program. Did you receive any funding offer yet??
-
I applied to two MA programs there and I haven't heard back anything yet. I also haven't heard from their law schools. I've been accepted to Queen's and Osgoode for law and Queen's MPA program so my application can't suck that much (which is always my greatest fear, haha). I guess they are just unpredictable. Good luck!
-
I also haven't received an email from GPSIA. Hmm, very interesting, especially based on previous years where it looks like applicants have been accepted in March.
-
Thanks a lot! I'm still not sure that I want to commit to law school, haha. It's definitely a big decision. Good luck to you too! Hopefully we hear something soon.
-
I'm sure it will be an asset to have different experience, you sound very interesting! My background is probably more standard (honours degree in International Studies), living and working abroad on 4 different continents over a span of about 4 years. I am a bit older as well since I've taken so many "gap years" to travel and work, haha. NPSIA is definitely my first choice too, the program sounds phenomenal. Fingers crossed we are both classmates next year! I'll post on this thread when I hear something :-)
-
I just noticed mine go into "Recommended for Assessment" today! I also applied to NPSIA. I hope we find out soon, what are your guys' stats? If you don't want to share, I completely understand - I'm just going a little crazy with the wait! I have a 3.73 GPA, 161 LSAT (I applied to the joint JD program at U of O). I'm accepted at Queen's and Osgoode for law and Queen's for the MPA program so far. I'm still hoping for NPSIA/JD at Ottawa as it's my first choice. Good luck everyone!
