In my current office job, I tend to vary it depending on the person; I'll use 'best' when it's a short, quick email. Otherwise, I use 'best wishes' most of the time, occasionally "all the best" and with closer friends, I often use "cheers". I reserve "thanks" for when I'm actually thanking someone. It never occurred to me that someone might be offended or annoyed by the signature I chose, I guess I should think harder on this.... hmm.

Mine was included in the attached email (the last few pages) that detailed my offer and funding... Basically it tells you that you can pay via online or telephone banking (Not credit, debit or cheque) and that all you need to do is add the University of Ottawa as a payee on your online banking and then use your student number and pay the $500. For me, it's essentially the same way that I paid tuition to my undergrad institution. I hope that makes sense :-)

Hey Guys, So I still haven't heard from Ottawa law but I decided I want to do my Master's first so I emailed NPSIA to see if they could change me to the regular MA and they did! And offered me funding :-D So I have officially accepted their offer and will be declining GSPIA later today. Best of luck to everyone still waiting, I hope I get to see you in the fall!

I am still waiting to hear back from U Ottawa for law school. Once I hear back from them, I can make an informed decision about whether I want to do the joint law-NPSIA program or go to GSPIA for my Masters. As of yet, I can't turn down NPSIA because I don't know if I'm accepted into law school. As a note: I'd already paid my confirmation to NPSIA before I heard from GSPIA. Anyway, I'll post here once I accept or decline NPSIA! Good luck!

Hey! Thanks for your insight. I am sorry you haven't heard yet, I am hoping for you! That was the hard thing about posting this, I didn't want to be insensitive as I recognize how fortunate I am to be accepted into any grad program and I know there are still many people waiting (the waiting pain is really getting to me with U of O law as I applied in October!). Anyway, in answer to your questions: I've already paid my deposit to NPSIA. I would need to let GSPIA know by May 3rd in order to keep my funding so I do have a bit more time. I do think funding is a huge factor. I honestly was not thinking too much about funding because I applied to law schools/grad programs that are not traditionally known for funding and since I'm not interested in the traditional academic masters, I had just accepted that I would be going into debt. However, now that I actually have a funding, it seems to have changed my perspective a little. Especially, if I do decide to go to law school afterward. It would be good to have little to no debt after my masters. I was a fortunate soul that had a full scholarship for my undergrad in Canada so I don't think I really know what living in debt looks like. In terms of NPSIA, yes I had decided last week without knowing about GSPIA that if I didn't get into U of O for law, that I would go do my Masters first. That is why I chose to turn down my Queen's and Osgoode acceptances. Anyway, if anyone else has any thoughts, please feel free to chime in! Once again, I apologize if these questions are insensitive but I'm just looking for feedback from some people that have clearly been thinking long and hard about grad school like myself. Thanks!

So without further ado, HELP ME! So I'm stuck between a few different options (all of them in Ottawa). I turned down Osgoode law school and Queen's joint law-MPA program last week since I decided that I wanted to live in Ottawa. My current choices: - U of O joint law program with NPSIA (the catch is that I haven't yet been accepted into U of O law) - the positives are that it seems like a fantastic program where you get to learn both the law and policy side which I'm interested, the negatives are that it will take me 4 years and a lot of money, obviously, this is not really an option until I'm accepted but I'm still keeping it on this list - NPSIA - currently I'm accepted into the joint program which means my acceptance to NPSIA is for Fall 2014, not Fall 2013. Tabbatha has told me that based on my qualifications I will be admitted to the Fall 2013 for the Master's if I'm not accepted into the law school. However, they have not assessed me for funding since funding is assessed for each year and I was not slated to start until the following year. Essentially, if I don't get into law school, I'd be going to NPSIA without any funding. - GSPIA - I just got the letter today and I got full funding! This makes my decision more difficult as NPSIA was always my top choice but I think GSPIA is also a great option and with that big of difference in funding, I'm not sure I can pass it up. What would you do? What do you think I should do? I'm from Alberta, currently living in Vancouver and the only thing I currently know is that next fall I'll be studying in Ottawa. I just don't know what! Any help/insight/guidance any of you can give would much appreciated. TLDR: Study at NPSIA with no funding or GSPIA with full funding?

Same with me! I got an email an hour ago. So weird as I wasn't even checking my infoweb on the weekend. Haha. I'm also accepted into the Master of Public Administration. I hope we hear about funding soon!

I wonder if it's because I'm in the stupid joint JD-MA? Ugh, I really wish U of O would get back to my about law school, if I'm not in that would be fine but I'd like to know where I stand. Considering the deadline for law was November 1st and I heard from the other law schools in January, I'm really beginning to get frustrated with U of O law. :-(

I had to wait longer at Carleton too but then eventually I was accepted. Don't lose hope yet, they might just be slow to update! And I haven't yet seen an update on my infoweb, only what the lady told me on the phone.

That's so weird. The woman I spoke to was super helpful and when I explained that I had other offers on the table and was trying to make an informed decision, she looked me up right away with my Ottawa student number. I only asked her if she knew when a decision would be reached.

In case anyone waiting on GSPIA and isn't following the other forum, I thought I'd post this here too: I just called GSPIA . She told me this was a great time to call as the committee had just finished most of their decisions and offers were being sent out as the grad studies office She confirmed that I've been recommended for admission by the admissions committee and that my file is just under final review by the graduate department. She said I should expect my infoweb to be updated shortly and that a letter should soon follow!

Someone posted the following in the NPSIA page: Anyways, I emailed uOttawa about when they would be sending out notification of acceptance or denial into the Public & Intl Affairs MA program. I was told that it would be either by the end of this week or early next week. I'm not sure what to make of the person who posted on the results search page. Just thought people reading this might want an update!

Hey! I'm also moving from Vancouver to Ottawa this summer! I just wanted to let you know that Tabbatha approved the Economics classes from TRU-OL so that you can take Micro & Macro by distance. The wonderful thing about this is that they are way cheaper than SFU, UBC, etc. and you can register at anytime and finish at your own pace. Just wanted to let you know! Good luck !

We're in the same cluster! :-D (My first choice when I applied was International Institutions and Global Governance so it sounds pretty close).

Hey! Ya, I've officially told both Queen's joint JD-MPA program& Osgoode law that I will not be attending next year so as it stands now, NPSIA is my only offer, haha. I think if I don't get into the law program at Ottawa, NPSIA is definitely my top choice by itself. That being said, NPSIA has to wait on a funding decision until I find out whether I'm in the joint program. Tabbatha told me the sooner, the better. Which means that if Ottawa waits a long time and then rejects me, they could have screwed me out of any funding :-( If I get accepted to GSPIA and they offer funding, I would seriously consider it as well. All I know for right now is that I will be in Ottawa next year. That was a big decision as my boyfriend and I are both planning on moving from Vancouver so figuring out the city was a good first step ;-) Good luck! Please keep me posted!

I haven't heard anything either. Stupid Ottawa is driving me nuts since that also happens to be the only law school I haven't heard from :-( I'll post here when I do hear something!

I heard last month from Queen's MPA and today they sent me an email about funding. It was my second choice because I was going to do the joint JD-MPA program at Queen's. But now I've been accepted to NPSIA and the joint JD-NPSIA program at U of O/Carleton is my top choice so I'll be turning down Queen's. In terms of the other programs, I'm not as knowledgeable about since I was only looking at joint programs with a law degree. Congratulations and good luck making a decision!
