FYI....and I'm sorry if this is old news but it tells you on the CSDCAS site what day they are up to for verifying.

I applied awhile ago and have been following up every month or so. I was told a few weeks ago that I should hear something soon. I assumed it would be regarding the interview since I haven't had it yet. I was trying to check my application status but it wasn't coming up... it would only allow me to start a new one. For curiosity sake, I tried to log in to the actual site and to my surprise, it gave me a Shark Link id and temp password, along with a Nova email . But: 1) I had no interview 2) I can't go any further than that (register for Shark Pass) Of course, its a holiday and nobody is there

'mature' SLP student thread
Sophia Petrillo replied to Starene29's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
Count me in... 38 married with 2 children (6 & 3), thankfully I have my husbands support. I graduate this May and applied to 3 schools (only 2 locally and 1 online). My GPA is ok,compared to others (3.65) but my GRE SUCKS. I just didn't have time to study with all of my obligations. Thankfully Nova doesn't use that but my other 2 schools do. I made it a point to make contacts with each school and have lots of volunteer experience. Just have to wait it out...hoping my life, volunteer and work experiences count for something. If I don't get in this year, I will retake the GRE. -
Fall 2015 Applicants!
Sophia Petrillo replied to slpslidingaway's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
We are given guidelines by each person we request and that includes how many they will write. I have one professor who will only write 4 but another who will do 10. I would request the letter first and see if they give you any limit. I think it also depends on your relationship with each. Some will go the extra mile....some won't, but they also get a TON of requests this time of year. Thankfully, I only need 3, lol! -

Bump....interview on Tuesday. Sooooooo nervous!!!! Has anyone heard anything? I know they said the site visit went very well and they were going to apply for accelerated status (or something like that) so they could start in the Fall but I haven't heard since. Emailed Ryan last week but I guess he was out of the office because he's usually really good about emailing back.

I just talked to someone in admissions today and they said the program probably would not start until January. Did anyone else hear this?

Taking A Year Off To Work
Sophia Petrillo replied to cheltroy's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
I only applied to one program my first time around due to family constraints (location & needed part time this year at least as an adjustment). I have been volunteering for a year with a local fluency expert (my desired area of interest) and she just offered me paid employment....very flexible. I will work with her whether or not I get in but will work more hours if I have the extra time (have 2 small children) -

I see some acceptances and it's the first time I've been nervous this whole time...still waiting. Can anyone accepted provide details of emails/letters? Pretty, pretty please P.S. This is the ONLY program I applied to this year so I'm freaking out!! ETA: Time you received the email? From who? What did it say? Did you get a letter too? Same day? Can you tell I'm going crazy, lol?!?!

SLP mommies???? Working mommies?
Sophia Petrillo replied to BeckSLPplease's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
Fellow mommy here!!!! 2 year old girl and a 6 year old boy. I was also working part time (massage therapist), volunteering 10 hours a week and going to school full time. I'm exhausted....mentally & physically so I actually only applied to one program, part time status. I won't be working as a massage therapist but my volunteer experience has turned into a paid position with an SLP. That's all I can handle after the last few years. If I don't get in this year, I will soak up every minute with my kids, retake my GREs (the only thing I think that would hold me back) and reapply next year to all the local & online programs. -

Re: Syracuse. It could also be an applicant that's trying to increase their own chances...that was honestly my first thought. -
Just curious if anyone has ever asked or may know the answer. When ASHA or a school lists their average GPA acceptance stats, is that the first round of those accepted? Or is it the stats of the entering class, that would include 3rd & 4th rounds? I guess it could be different for each but just curious, lol.

I emailed the coordinator for West Chester and was told "the first round if invitations would be sent by April 1st". I think they email.
