  1. I suspect Stanford's admissions system is not designed for us, the neurotic.
  2. Mark me down as a no for Stanford as well. Letter finally uploaded.
  3. Not seeing a decision letter yet either.
  4. Second to that. What the heck? I thought it was just me. There is no update to the activity page, just the same "Submitted" status.
  5. Truly amazing. Now perhaps one of the more difficult choices you'll ever have to make.
  6. Feel exactly the same way. 4 programs left to hear back from. I'd like to be able to mentally start making the decision as to where it is I'm headed. Lots of school work to do to keep me occupied, but it hasn't prevented me from taking a look here and at my email frequently.
  7. Ah! MTL. That clears that up.
  8. Congrats to a fellow UCSB admit!! Hope to see you in March at the open house. Also – Did I just see the first Stanford rejection? Or am I hallucinating? Anyone else get word from them? I haven't seen anything yet.
  9. Probably not this year as I'll be dealing with moving to wherever I decide to do my PhD program/taking a nice vacation from work. I highly recommend it though. I quite enjoyed it last year, learned a lot, and made many new friends. Also - the NW is my favorite area to be in, so very nice to have an excuse to head there every summer.
  10. First - Greetings fellow DHer! Much to be said, and I'll try to double back this evening (as one does with thegradcafe). What I would note is that while there are some obvious DH centers in the US, Canada in general is very strong in digital humanities and because of government humanities grants and some new private funding, it will likely only get stronger. We also have a really good community up here as well and are in regular contact about collaborative projects. If you want to see some of that in action and meet people, highly recommend you check out the Canadian Society of DH conference in Ottawa this June, and of course DHSI in Victoria afterward.
  11. Congrats!!! I was hoping you'd get something, even better that it's at College Park, and not too far away. If it helps, I feel that doing a partially funded MA definitely increased my potential for PhD work. Though to be sure, I've got debt that needs paying off now because of it – so I understand why it's not preferable.
  12. Really don't know what to say about GRE scores. My general GREs are quite high, but my lit score is low. Got into 2 great programs thus far. I'm thinking writing samples, letters, etc. far outweigh standardized testing. Oh, and add one more Columbia denial to the pile of corpses. The schools I'm more keen on are still to come though...
  13. Congrats to all the accepts today! I feel like there's so many. Saw windrainfireandbooks' KCL admit - amazing!! In other news, I too got the reject notice from U. Nebraska. Given my background, it's very surprising. But again it was definitely a place I was very hesitant to live in, despite the great DH program/community. Congrats to those who got in!
  14. This is the fellow: http://english.fas.nyu.edu/object/LytleShaw.html
  15. Was wondering where that acceptance phone call was... Just got the call from NYU.
  16. Very, very exciting news! Congrats!
  17. Did you get the sense that all potential candidates were being interviewed? Or just some?
  18. That is an amazing list of questions. Decidedly up voted. I'll claim the latest UCLA reject. No one likes rejection....That said, I'm glad the acceptances went to others on this board. I was encouraged to apply by an advisor, and would have enjoyed working with the POIs I contacted, but I don't really like the idea of living in Los Angeles!
  19. P.S. Official letter of acceptance from UC Santa Barbara just popped up in my inbox.
  20. First, congrats on these acceptances to all! Things are really starting to heat up here! So do we think UCLA is done emailing? I know what you mean re: head hunters. I've definitely had my share in the past year, and am actually chatting with a tech company in SF at the moment. I've been in that world for some time, left it twice now, but keeping my options open.
  21. Just found out that I won't know about funding/get an official email for the PhD program I was accepted into until late February, so I'll come clean. I was accepted at UC Santa Barbara for English Lit as well!
  22. Congratulations, kurayamino! Really exciting news!!!
  23. Haha. Oh I doubt you broke any rules. I was just being diplomatic/cautious! I think people have posted their acceptances under similar circumstances.
  24. Congrats!!! Who's your POI at UCSB?
