  1. Hahah yea really!!! That is hilarious - glad I'm not the only one!!!! Knowing me I would dream the same thing and just say all the wrong things, and wake up mortified....
  2. Haven't posted in a while... wanted to say congratulations to everyone who's heard back in the past few days!!! I kid you not, every time I see a familiar name get good news, I get so excited! And to everyone who's been wait-listed so far, I loved what kriskros, wrote above - keep your chin up, because spots will open up! I haven't gotten any news in a while. I saw UNCG started announcing, but I haven't heard or seen anything from them. I'm guessing it will be soon though? Haven't heard from UNC about funding either, which is wracking me with anxiety. Has anyone heard if they've started announcing about assistantships and such? Just thought I'd put it out there. Also it's horrible (and kinda funny I guess) - I've started having dreams that I get letters in the mail from various schools and then of course I can't seem to open them, or when I do, I instantly wake up. I just want this whole thing to be over with!!!! Anxiously awaiting App State and McGill too. Soooooon.
  3. Yeaa that sounds pretty sensible. I'm not planning on getting a PhD (at least, not right now) so my bigger concern is such having a job after a graduate, so probably the cheapest option will be the best for me. Haven't heard back about funding from anywhere yet so I'm hoping I get some good news soon :/ So far there is no cheapest option for me since I'm Canadian and trying desperately to stay in the US. Thanks for weighing in!!
  4. That pretty much summarizes everything that I've been considering thus far. So basically.... it will just come down to what feels right once all the options are out there. Bahhh, glad I don't have to decide right this second. Thanks for helping me gain some perspective on it!
  5. I feel ya! Such a tough decision.... glad I'm not the only one struggling with the reality of it :/
  6. Don't give up hope yet!!! Someone else's answer was up and mine still said complete as well. Besides, looks like you have a ton of interviews so you are still definitely in good shape no matter what happens. It's not over til it's over!!!
  7. Definitely, please do!!!! It's so tough... I've heard back from UNC, UVM, and JMU so far (and no funding so far from any of them) and so right now, my first choice is probably UNC..... but the money thing is really weighing on me. This is actually something I've been thinking about for a while, and maybe it's super obvious but I think it's a good discussion question for everyone reading these boards: do you all think it's worth taking out a ton of money in loans to finance this education? I know SLPs are really in demand and it's a pretty competitive salary, BUT out-of-state tuition is so high and I'm terrified of the thought of paying off those loans forever! What does everyone think? And if by some chance you get offered money from a school that is maybe not so highly ranked, is it better to go to the better program anyway? From what I've seen, seems like a lot of you are applying out of state so I'm not the only one. Thoughts?
  8. Thank you!! I hope you hear back soon... they didn't really say anything about further notices. I was told exactly which classes I have to complete before I can actually go, and it said nothing about funding (which I assume means there will be none?) but that's about it. That's good to know about Burlington! I got to visit a month ago and walked around campus (it was literally the coldest day of the year when I went... something like 40 below zero? so all I could think about was how freezing I was haha) but it definitely seems like such a close-knit community, and so pretty too! And the faculty really seemed pretty awesome too. Would that be your first choice if you get in?
  9. Thank you!!!! So after trying to sign in repeatedly I actually switched browsers and then it worked (probably the only I've ever been happy after using Internet Explorer haha)..... anyway, I got in!!!!!!!! Definitely keep checking!!! It says I've been accepted provisionally and they'll mail me a letter saying what those provisions are. Hoping it's not too intense! Let me know when you hear back! Fingers crossed!!!!
  10. After two weeks of nadaa, I got an email from the University of Vermont today - got in!! So psyched although it looks like they didn't offer any funding either. I'm so frustrated though because it looks like James Madison has started announcing and it won't let me login to the portal! I'm hoping thing will start working soon and I can see the decision on that one too - fingers crossed!!! AHHHH I'm so excited for everyone on here, by the way - checking these boards has become a daily thing for me and I love it when people get happy news . For those of you who haven't heard back yet, keep your chin up - it won't be long now!!!
  11. Hey! I applied to McGill too! I'm from Quebec but I've lived in North Carolina for half my life so McGill is only Canadian program I applied to. Competition sounds really fierce so I'm keeping my expectations very low!!! Best of luck to all of you
  12. Ahahah I love it!!! That is brilliant - I can honestly say I never thought to do that, thought that would have been hugely helpful....
  13. Oh I didn't think about that. I'm honestly not too sure then :/
  14. My decision was posted on Connect Carolina and there's nothing on ApplyYourself currently so that's where I'd look. I wouldn't have even thought to do that but the professor who called last week said that's where it would be posted!
  15. OH yes - when I got to UNC we still had StudentCentral and I didn't realize how terrible it was until we got Connect Carolina! The biggest difference was getting to register for all your classes in one click instead of quickly rushing and doing it one at a time during your registration time! Oh the good ol' days Looks like we're applying to a lot of the same schools! I was thinking of doing ECU and Western too but I pretty much ran out of money for the application costs haha. I really love NC though Having a hard time imagining living anywhere else...
  16. Yeaaa!! Go Heels!!!!!!!
  17. Thanks!! And, sure! I submitted on December 1. I'm technically an international student, too, so I may have gone through a different process? I have no idea honestly.
  18. I've been keeping up with this thread for a while so I just wanted to take a second and say hi and good luck to all of you! Everyone seems so wonderful and excited about becoming SLPs - best of luck to all of you through this incredibly stressful time! I actually got the call from UNC-CH last Thursday and it officially came up tonight on Connect Carolina that I've been admitted!!! I just graduated from UNC last May so I am beyond elated. Still no mention of funding yet though, and that's really going to be my biggest determinant in this whole process. Big relief though, so far! Can't wait to hear about the rest of my schools. Again, nice to meet you all and good luck to everyone
