Hi all. I really need help with this issue. Due to personal reasons I need to attend a school in Los Angeles. My mother will be taking care of my child while I attend class. My mother refuses to move out of California: 1- She is afraid of airplanes and 2- she owns a home in la. Since I didn’t hear anything from UCLA, I accepted an offer from my dream school. UCLA sent me an email today informing that I was on the wait-list, but now I have been offered admissions. This really blows. Will I get blacklisted if I inform my dream school that I want to retract my intention to register? They have been nothing but kind with me. They even mailed me a sweater and a mug. UCLA didn’t even inform me I was wait-listed and they never answered my emails. My child needs special care and I do not trust other humans. Right now my soon to be ex-husband has been taking care of our baby, but our divorce will be finalized by the summer. Has anyone turned down an offer after they’ve accepted it?

No te desanimes hermosa. Me informó una amiga que la lista de Davis es muy corta. Si no te rechazaron es muy probablemente que te den una oferta. Davis ya mando ofertas y rechazos. ¡Suerte!

Para los que no recibieron ofertas de Davis en la primera ronda no se desanimen. Si los candidatos recibieron ofertas de Davis probablemente también recibieron ofertas de mejores programas. Por ejemplo Davis me ofreció un waiver por mi status de “out of state”. También, me ofreció un trabajo como TA. Yale me ofreció un paquete increíble. No tengo que enseñar por los primeros 2 años y recibiré un stipend. Durante los veranos puedo trabajar en la universidad o estudiar en España. Obviamente Yale me dio una mejor oferta y la voy a tomar si no tengo noticias de UCLA. Tengan mente positiva. En cuanto pueda voy a rechazar la oferta de Davis.

Yo voy a rechazar la oferta de UC Davis. Soñando ¿sabes si eres de los primeros en la lista de espera? A mi amiga de UC Berkeley le informaron que ya habían mandado ofertas y que a finales de abril mandarían mas ofertas dependiendo en cuantos cupos tengan. No le informaron que estaba en la lista de espera ni que la habían rechazado. ¿Alguien fue rechazado de Davis? Por lo que me contaron (mis amigos), hasta el momento UCD ha mandado pocas oferta por la crisis económica y porque los estudiantes graduados no están terminando adecuadamente. No quieren tener un departamento muy grande. Suerte a todos. Yo quiero vivir en Los Angeles y espero que UCLA me mande una oferta.

Hola Dff, Me enteré de Yale desde Enero 23/24. Cuando estudie en Yale trabaje muy cercanamente con un profesor. Los dos compartimos los mismos intereses y él me ha llevado “under his wing”. Cuando el comité recibió mi solicitud, él la reviso y mi hizo una oferta. Sé que el comité todavía se está reuniendo para ofrecer más candidaturas. Por lo que me comentó este año sólo harán 2/3 ofertas + la mía. Suerte a todos
