  1. Thanks for the tips! I emailed them letting them know I'm still interested in going there and that I'll have to commit somewhere else on the 15th if they don't tell me anything by then. I'm pretty sure they offer the full funding package if you get in off the waitlist, since they don't accept anybody they don't fund for the PhD Theory program. I'm not totally sure I'd go there if they let me in, but I've interviewed in person there twice now and liked it a lot both times, and it is a really strong program. Of course time's running out now, so even if they do let me in I won't have long to decide. Good luck to all in making decisions!
  2. Have a bit of a dilemma: I'm on Eastman's waitlist, but I'm beginning to suspect they won't get back to me by April 15th. This suspicion is based on the fact that this happened to me two years ago; fortunately for me, UBC was lenient about the deadline to commit, so I had enough time to wait for Eastman to reject me. I doubt this will be the case with Indiana (where I'm most likely to go), so I wonder whether I should email Eastman and request that they get back to me before the 15th, lest I be forced to withdraw from their waitlist. Thoughts?
  3. Alright, application season is finally (sort of) done. Here's the lineup: Accepted: UBC, FSU, Indiana Rejected: Michigan, Chicago, Yale Waitlisted: Eastman Most likely headed to Indiana, unless I get in to Eastman off the waitlist (not holding my breath). Coulda gone better, coulda gone worse. Many thanks to all of you for giving me an outlet for the neurotic behavior that comes with waiting (i.e. checking this site every 30 minutes for two months) and best wishes to everyone headed into the denouement of the application season!
  4. @SunnyComposer: I interviewed at Eastman more than a month ago now, and still no word. When I went through this same process two years ago, it wasn't until the very end of March that they finally told me I was waitlisted; here's hoping that doesn't happen this time... Also waiting for word from Yale; apparently someone got a text message acceptance there already? I would guess they've probably contacted their top candidates, but I suppose you never really know. In any case, I expect to hear something pretty soon. The silver lining is that I'm already in at UBC, FSU, and Indiana, which takes at least a bit of the tension off of this wait. In any case, good luck to you all!
  5. Got an email from Eastman, and I felt a jolt of anxious excitement: "We enjoyed meeting you at your recent Eastman School of Music audition day. Please let us know about your experience by completing the following short survey:" @#$%@#%#@%#$%@#$%!
  6. Hello all! I'm applying for PhD programs in Theory this year, and I've been checking this site neurotically, so I finally thought I'd jump in an join the conversation here. Has anybody heard a peep from Yale yet? Do they even do interviews? From what I understand, nobody in either theory or musicology on here has heard anything from them yet, but it's starting to feel unsettlingly weird that they're so silent.
