  1. The immediate area surrounding MICA is fine. Have some level of street smarts and you'll be fine.
  2. Finally got a response out of Hunter after much calling. Apparently it was another department that was slowing things down as the Art department had put in the notifications awhile ago. I must say its weird to finally have a clear view of grad school after months of moving variables.
  3. Anyone out there with the dilemma of one school not extending their deadline to allow you to hear the offer of another school?
  4. I've talked to recent Tyler graduates who had nothing but good things to say about it. Tyler did come across as being real loose, especially in regards to the rigors, or lack thereof, of accomplishing your thesis. Although that's a purely subjective view when taking into account the drive and work ethic of the student. MICA does have Joan Waltemath as the creative director of their school of painting, and after some poking around she seems like the perfect fit for anyone who wants to improve as a painter. Obviously you can't go wrong with either so as with most decisions like this, your gut will probably push you over the edge into your final decision. Am I mistaken or are those financial figures the tuition per year?
  5. Just got done talking with Hunter and they said my application is still in progress. Have yet to receive any notification of any kind. Hmmm... April 12th is coming up and they're taking their sweet time.
  6. Anyone have an analysis/opinion on MICA vs. Hunter?
  7. Has anyone heard back from Hunter regarding painting? They are the last piece to the puzzle of making a decision.
  8. They notified me on the 15th by phone. I don't know if all the admits are notified through phone, but official admit packs are sent out through the mail I believe on the 15th, so they'd arrive at destinations after the 15th.
  9. Got the call on the 15th that MICA had a double dose of good news for me. Accepted to both Hoffberger & Mount Royal. After 3 rejections it was such a relief to finally be accepted somewhere. Now begins the process of deciding which one to choose...
  10. I too am waiting on MICA. What program are you applying for at Long Beach?
  11. It was pretty straightforward. Questions on why you're interested in Hunter, explain your work, explain the relevance of art history, where you see your work going. Stuff like that. Obviously they'll probably expound on your answers and that could cause the interview to morph. For example i mentioned certain artists in my response to the Art history question and was then asked to explain how these two seemingly different artists related to each other. They could also ask you to elaborate or clarify parts of your statement of intent. Hope this helps.
  12. Well, that was another 10 minute or so interview. Hunter definitely had their poker face on.
  13. I must give Hunter props for actually "sparing" some of their international Skype time for us national applicants, looks like I won't have to make an impromptu trip to NY. Everyone seems to be getting at least some finality to their situations, meanwhile I've managed to apply to a combination of schools with enough rejections to still be in limbo haha. This anticipation of getting all the results in is exhausting.
  14. For Hunter not to offer Skype interviews is rather disappointing. I was told if I can't make it in person then there would be no acceptance. All the other schools utilize alternatives to physical interviews, but alas Hunter has yet to realize it's the year 2013.
