Mark is absolutely amazing! He and I have been in contact so much over the past few days/weeks. I can't believe that he has enough time to do everything that he does. I'm supposedly going to hear back from both schools about grants, financial aid, and scholarships (from SFAI, I didn't get anything from SAIC...which is sad). I'm hoping funding will be similar for the two schools, but something tells me that it won't be...

This is true. I guess a lot of it depends on the type of Performance that students want to create. I'm seeing a lot of similarity between my work and the work the some of the SFAI faculty create (Jennifer Locke, mostly). But yes, SAIC does have an incredible reputation, and I'm already noticing how much attention they give to their students. I haven't even enrolled at SAIC yet, but Mark Jeffery has already been so amazing and helpful.

Is SFAI better for performance? It seems that way but I'm not sure.

Just graduated in December 2012. Schools typically want to see a cohesive portfolio, which is why a lot of professors tell students to wait a few years after they've graduated. Welp, it's official. No scholarship to SAIC, and a rejection from Concordia. Not a super awesome day...but hey, SAIC is still a damn good school, and it's way better than Concordia (which is why I'm surprised). Still waiting to hear back from SFAI...

Congrats! I was admitted to SAIC Performance as well. I think we will hear about funding in early March as long as you filled out your fafsa.

I had an interview at SFAI a few days ago. They asked me some standard questions..."Can you give me a brief overview of your work?""What got you interested in making this type of work?""Why do you think (performance) is the best way to illustrate your thoughts?" They may ask you about influences as well...they didn't for my SFAI interview but that's a pretty typical question. Also, they WILL ask you why you want to go to that school in particular. Make sure you have a really good answer for that question! GOOD LUCK!
