  1. Hi All, Can anyone give me feedback on the feasibility of applying for and being granted in-state residency for tuition purposes after the first year in a program? I understand that the process varies depending on the state and that simply living in a city for 12 months doesn't count. Some schools use "in-state tuition after the first year" as sort of a recruitment tool, but really a student can try to qualify for in-state residency for whichever school they attend. It's just a matter of being able to meet the requirements for a particular state. Thank you.
  2. Yes, that is true. I'm referring to the aid that is offered via the fin aid office as a result of completing the FAFSA. Some schools award need-based scholarships (even at the graduate level) based on FAFSA information. Good Luck!
  3. Thanks for responding. I've been accepted to a masters program. Individual programs may have different processes for departmental funding, so just to clarify I'm speaking specifically about the financial aid office. Have you all checked your My ASU accounts? The account will list if you have tasks to complete. Also, if you call the fin aid department, there is an automated voice system that can give you a brief status on your financial aid before you're asked if you want to speak to a representative.
  4. Yes, it's pretty backwards. Now, when you say email the department, are you referring to the fin aid department or the program department? I was told the above by fin aid representatives.
  5. Hey All, Is anyone familiar with ASU's financial aid department policies? I have been told that to even receive a financial aid offering I must first register for classes (in order to register for classes, I must submit immunization records). I think that's an unusual and a bit backwards policy. I haven't decided if I will attend ASU. Financial aid offerings are a big factor in my final decision, as is the case with many applicants. Also, I don't feel completely comfortable sending shot records to a place I'm not positive I'm attending. Thank you.
