"I'm going to take "probably by tomorrow" as "absolutely by tomorrow". "
Me too! At first I thought, oh great, more delays...but then, rereading it, I realized that this is really no change from the previous emails, just a different wording. My GPS department doesn't usually notify by email, they usually make us wait for the letter - hopefully they will take pity on us this year and let us know by email [finger's crossed!]
I like your idea and think it would be great to share that extra information. And thanks so much for the dose of optimism too...I will draw on it to get me through the next few days!
Still stressing but just trying to pass the time until next week. Seems silly how this takes over, I've always considered myself a patient person but this wait is truly painful, especially with it dragging out seemingly endlessly. I have to admit that it's really one of the few times that I'm wanting the weekend to pass so I can get to Monday quickly!
Any ideas for coping strategies out there????
I am worried about the same thing dramanda! Especially with going into the first year of a PhD program - the Master's programs are so short (and the review process so long for journals) that it's hard to get published early on! I have also been told that the proposal is key, so let's stick with that!
I agree with dramanda and my own experience is that this is true. Like ashleyv (and congratulations by the way!), I had a Master's SSHRC in the first year of my MSc program and ended up getting an OGS for the second year. I'm starting a PhD in the fall and have been notified that I was successful for the OGS once again. (Although, like so many others on this board, I'm anxiously waiting on the SSHRC doctoral results and am hoping that I will get to turn down the OGS in lieu of the SSHRC!)
I have to thank everyone for participating on this board. I have been anxiously waiting the results and very frustrated with the lack of communication about what is going on. I was very happy when I found this board. It's reassuring to know that I'm not the only one in this boat. I'll be checking regularly to see what's happening, especially at the beginning of next week. In the meantime, good luck all!
