  1. Two years! Any plans to go through the huge reading list they have on the site? I think it's how I'm going to spend my summer. I want to start already! http://mfaphoto.schoolofvisualarts.edu/wp-content/uploads//2014/08/Reading-List-2014.pdf
  2. Accepted SVA's offer this weekend. Going to have an obscene amount of debt for the rest of my life, but so excited about the program. I knew I'd have major regret if I went anywhere else, even if more affordable. It's finally over!
  3. For what it's worth, SCAD has a terrible reputation in the Southern United States. Really expensive for a really mediocre education.
  4. Any advice on requesting if you're already planning to attend, but you know it's going to be rough financially and any additional funding would be an incredible help? The wording of it is so... nervewracking.
  5. In case y'all are wondering, I called Financial Aid today and they said they have no idea when to expect award letters (digital or otherwise). They find out when we find out, essentially. Hoping for it to happen soon... am most likely accepting.
  6. Haha. I was told "getting in here is your scholarship." May end up going to Hunter if these other schools don't offer aid... ehhhh.
  7. Does anyone know about when to expect SVA's financial aid info? I thought it'd have arrived around now but... not yet.
  8. Unsure how, after my disaster of an interview, but I was also accepted to Hunter today. Four out of four schools! Also in at ICP-Bard, SVA, and Parsons with scholarship offers. Feeling super excited, though I'm scared to make a decision.
  9. Can you give any more information on the Parsons Photo MFA? I'm trying to decide between Parsons and SVA, and have a feeling Parsons won't be quite as stimulating as I want... the curriculum seems a little too loose and the program too reliant on really awesome facilities. What in particular makes it weak? I liked the faculty I've met with quite a bit, but there's something about it that makes me think I would be disappointed considering where I'm at and what I want.
  10. Cool! Thanks for sharing. 35% scholarship offer!
  11. It's unfortunate because I was really excited about the program and (of course) the relative affordability compared to other schools here. This is the second MFA program member out of four I've met who's been exceptionally rude... not sure cheap tuition is worth putting up with that. If you invite me to interview, at least be polite and show some interest in the work I submitted? At least it's helping make choosing a school easier! Hah.
  12. Did anyone else have a particularly awful experience interviewing at Hunter? I felt like one of the two people interviewing had it out for me. It was a really bizarre experience. Multiple passive-aggressive questions from this one person. Asked about how financial aid works and was quickly told "getting in here is a scholarship." I've interviewed with three other programs and didn't have anything remotely like this. I felt like they were actively going in, looking for ways to argue/discredit anything I said. Maybe this person was against me even being considered? It felt awful, and was hardly a critique of my work or experience. At least all my interviews are OVER. Now the waiting on financial aid game begins...
  13. Everyone else going to Hunter's interview day: do you have a lot of new work to show? I don't have anything I'm comfortable sharing, as the work isn't quite at the level of that which I submitted. Still working through kinks. All the work in my portfolio was made between August - December of this past year... does it sound like a mistake to not show anything more recent? Would hate to hurt my chances one way or another. I could pull together something, but... would love to know what other folks are doing!
  14. Just found out I was accepted to Parsons via https://my.newschool.edu/(this same trick worked last year)... thought y'all might want to check it!!
  15. Just got accepted to SVA's two year program via email. No interview either (but met with most of the core department members previously). Yay! Now to find out about the financial aid... Still waiting to hear back from ICP-Bard (interviewed), Parsons (interviewed), and Hunter (interview next week).
  16. Alright... rejected from University at Buffalo, Columbia University, and NYU. With that, this year's MFA pursuits have concluded. Ugh. So sad. I guess this gives me more time to establish my portfolio and career-outside-academia. Really frustrated though.
  17. Just got rejected from University at Buffalo... the one school I thought was fairly safe. Oh well. I'm guessing NYU Steinhardt won't accept me if they didn't, so I'm trying to focus my manic energy into figuring out moving to NYC/State immediately after graduating this May with a BFA. Will try again next year!
  18. Rejected from Columbia University today. Oh well. Just waiting on NYU Steinhardt and University at Buffalo....
  19. I'm slowly dying. Still waiting to hear back from University at Buffalo, Columbia University, and NYU Steinhardt for the MFA Studio (Photography) programs... so envious of everyone who has been hearing back. I can't stop checking my email and status page!
