This is so timely. I also feel like I can already feel the 'chill' of friends who don't quite get it. I've had a MUCH more enthusiastic response from my colleagues (work at a uni) than from my best friends of the past 15 years.
This is going to be tough.
So, rejected from Miami this eve via email. I noticed that the email came from the international graduate admission coordinator, and was CCd to the domestic grad. ad. co., the admin. assistant of the English Dept., and the DGS.
Anyone have any idea why the rejection would be CCd to others?
Also, if you applied to Miami, don't be psyched if you see this in the email body:
Attached you will find an official letter from Miami University Graduate School. This is the only one you will receive.
Please be advised: within seven business days, you should receive another email containing a link to a webform from which you can confirm or decline your offer of admission.
Because, I didn't have an offer of admission. I had a rejection. :/
Hi Drift,
Well, I applied to UNH, UMass Amherst, Illinois at Urbana Champaign, Wisconsin at Madison, Miami of Ohio, Penn State, and Syracuse.
I got a rejection notification from UMass on Tuesday, and then the terribleness today. Feeling blue, as they were my first choice. Though Penn State is a close second... I see you've been accepted into 4 program- Congrats!! Where are you leaning towards?
Just took the GREs yesterday! Awful, but went by much faster than I thought it would. My goal for August in to write my SOP and line up my references. Eek! Best of luck on the journey!
I'm afraid to even ask this, but I have a 3.65 from my MA coursework. I've been teaching for four years, and have some good stuff on my CV. I'm (finally) ready to apply to PhD programs in Rhet/Comp, but I'm afraid that my GPA will be my downfall. Any thoughts? I saw UMASS Amherst recommended a 3.75 to apply. So I guess I shouldn't even bother?
Ugh!
