There is a push to integrate programs through our Graduate Student Senate holding mixers and events, but my personal experience has been to reach out of both my cohort and graduate school in general. I'm friendly with my cohort and have one very close friend from it, but my closest pals and social connections are a couple of years above me. I sought out people outside of grad school on purpose, in the greater Toledo area; there's a community of artsy young professionals that keep me sane because it allows me to step outside of grad life on the weekends. It's both a blessing and a curse to hang out with other graduate students, right? You gotta choose wisely

There's actually little lake effect here compared to, say, Toledo, or Cleveland. It's a pleasant place, weather-wise.

How does one go about doing this? This seems extremely helpful!

SportPsych30, have you looked into housing much yet? ArthurianChaucerian, do you have and good recommendations for where to live/ how to find housing in the area? I'm bringing a furry companion with me, and Craigslist has been a bit bare.
