  1. Got an Acceptance from BGSU for their MA in Popular Culture but was waitlisted for funding. Has anyone dealt with being waitlisted for funding? Also, did anyone apply to Claremont Graduate University for Cultural Studies?
  2. Same. I was told we would hear by mid-February but that's after being told the first week of February and not hearing anything. :/ The anxiety is real. Guess it is just a waiting game now.
  3. I am finishing up at Mis right now. I personally have loved my time here. If you go here it will be a place you grow as a whole person it is small enough they push you to be more well rounded. The SLP program is pretty solid and the accelerated program is a plus most importantly Mis gives generous aid in form of scholarships. See what they offer before you commit but if you don't have to take a GRE don't it sucked - unless you like standardized tests? If you have any questions let me know. Best of luck.
  4. That is good to know. What is the social scene for grad students like? Do you stick mostly to your own cohorts?
  5. I am in the same boat. It's killing me softly.
  6. I was also interested in administration but when all is said and done I don't think it would be a good fit, I need creative control over my work which a teaching or private sector position can offer an admin post really cant give me what I want. To me, creative control is the whole point of tenure. Although a TT position would be ideal we have to stop looking at it as the end all be all. Getting a Ph.D. will open doors we just need to be aware of the skills we are honing and be clear of what exactly we want out of our work.
  7. Yeah that is something that's been on my mind. It's the best in North America if not the world for pop culture but the do I want to live in the middle of corn fields question has crossed my mind. I'm from D.C. originally but relocated for undergrad so over the last 4 years I have acclimated to smaller towns. For me I think the resources will be worth it for two years. Also BG is only 7 hours from where my family is now living and 5 hours from Toronto where I have a lot of friends. So I can go visit once in a while with ease. But with all that said I do understand not wanting to stay for the legeth of the PhD program.
  8. Yeah it is and thanks mate. I hope I get in. Checked out your profile congrats on getting into your program.
  9. It is a great program and thanks. I have my fingers crossed. Good luck with yours. Did you apply to the BGSU American Culture Studies program?
