Does anyone have a good cocktail they like to make in these trying times?
Hmmmm.....it doesn't matter so long as it's strong lol.
For waiting this long, I'd say a gin bucket is needed. Though I suppose it is less of a cocktail and more of a.....well....bucket of booze.

Germany, you are killing me.
SERIOUSLY! I thought since we didn't even have to give the Germans our translated essays/ application that we would be notified earlier than usual. Wishful thinking I guess! This waiting is definitely increasing my daily wine intake...thank god for

Oh My god, how do you solve a problem like Maria???
Hahahahhaha. That amused me to no end.
Hahah, that was also the FIRST thing I thought of. I think this board might slowly be making me crazy.

How long can you extend your ETA? Isn't it just a few months?
If the school agrees, you can extend for another year. Although, if I've heard correctly, I believe certain support (such as airfare) is not covered for the second year.

Did you just google for them? I'd love to find a blog from a Fulbright living in Switzerland.
The first one is a friend of a friend, but a few months ago when I googled Fulbright 'country name' eta blog, there were a ton of choices. Germany is also a really big program, so I'm sure there are more blogs than from other countries! Though I'm not sure if reading them helps stave off stress; reading the blogs makes me want a positive response even more!

Hey, can anyone recommend any blogs of current or past ETA recipients? I would love to read some! I have a feeling it's going to be a slow day in the office, today!
Here are two blogs from Germany ETAs.... As you can tell, I too have been quite bored waiting!

Also, it's my understanding that as a Fulbright ETAs, your role is more of a cultural ambassador than as a language teacher. I think it's less important that you know how to teach English grammar and more important that you're comfortable leading discussions on American political culture.
You're definitely right (at least with Germany)! I've had a few friends do the ETA and it is actually in their contracts that they are not supposed to teach grammar. Sometimes the schools may ask the ETA to teach it, but they are not supposed to. Perhaps this is because most ETAs do not have formal training in teaching English...
And I second everyone! Come on Germany, this waiting game is getting really old!

Nice username! Haven't actually seen that movie, but generally a fan of Til Schweiger
Haha, thank you! The only thing better than a Til Schweiger movie is when he does one with Matthias Schweighöfer

Another loooong time lurker here! Also, another Germany ETA applicant. I figured I'd been reading all of your posts for a while (and thoroughly enjoying them I must add), so I might as well jump on in! Here's hoping someone gets answers today
