Don't worry Lilly2223! This forum was created for those seeking advice on the various aspects of grad school. Just so your questions don't get lost in the mix of this thread (applications for the 2015 cycle), you might want to start a new topic under the Communication forum. That way, you won't get lost in the mix of all of us who are anxiously awaiting admissions and funding decisions! All of us are happy to help and share our wisdom! Best of luck!

Yep! That was me who said they were interviewing. I called the department and asked and they mentioned they were in the midst of the first round of interviews. Maybe someone else could call and see what is going on? I would be surprised if no one from the Grad Cafe got an interview. I know it is not representative of the entire pool of applicants, but still... Thanks fiveby5! That makes me wonder if the applicants have been divided into different groups of rejects, first round, second round, etc. I know I'm speculating but I am just so tired of waiting! haha!

NCSU CRDM PhD Funding
CaitlinMarie replied to cannedheat's topic in Communication and Public Relation Forum
I am still waiting to hear back from one of the programs I was accepted to about funding as well. It seems some programs deliberate on funding after admissions. My program told me I would hear back on funding just before the April 15th deadline. I hope this helps! -
I called them yesterday and their response on the interview process was a bit ambiguous. They said they are currently going through the first round of interviews and seemed to imply that there might be a second round. However, like I said, I couldn't tell if all requests have been sent out or if more will be sent out depending upon this first round.

NCSU CRDM PhD Funding
CaitlinMarie replied to cannedheat's topic in Communication and Public Relation Forum
I would wait to give them a decision before you know whether or not they are going to fund you. I definitely think that you shouldn't do a PhD program without funding (tuition waiver and stipend). Crossing my fingers that the funding comes through! -
It is pretty alarming, even for the students who are accepted given that funding is being cut left and right. Luckily, especially in comparison to other fields in the social sciences, communication and media studies seem to be doing decently in terms of money. You are welcome! I hope we both get interviews!
