  1. I just got a message from this board from someone about receiving an email from the foundation on May 8th. I never received any such email but I had already faxed my acceptance letter and financial aid award letter to them in April so I'm assuming that's why! Thanks for responding!
  2. Does anyone else find it utterly ridiculous that we still have not received official notification? I don't know...while I appreciate that we were notified over the phone, I find it unacceptable that it is taking nearly three weeks to resolve this problem. I have a relative in college admissions and she is shocked that this has been such a long process.
  3. Well here's another Friday at 6 and I STILL haven't gotten an official email. Maybe next week....
  4. I plan on working after getting my masters. At some point in my life I do plan on going on for a PhD...just not within the next 2-4 years. Thanks for the input!
  5. On Monday, they told me to call again if I hadn't received anything by Tuesday. So I called again and they said that there was no one to process the letters because of commencement so they won't be sent out until at least the end of the week.
  6. Nope....I emailed last night to let them know but have not heard back. I really can't believe how ridiculous this whole process has been. If anyone has received an official letter can you post the deadlines or any time sensitive information it contains?
  7. I'm trying to decide between an MS in Global Affairs (concentration in Human Rights/Humanitarian Aid) at NYU and an MA in Human Rights at Columbia. I already have a ton of positive feedback about NYU and their website really does a good job of laying out the program. Currently I am leaning towards NYU; however, a professor told me she would hands down choose Columbia because of its reputation in the human rights field which is making me reconsider. I'm leaning towards NYU because the MS degree seems to have more practical courses and offers a lot of field experiences whereas the MA seems strictly academic. That said, both programs a multidisciplinary and offer coursework in a multitude of schools (including SIPA and Wagner). Also, either way, I plan on interning in the field. This would be a terminal degree--as of right now I don't plan on using it as a stepping stone to a doctorate. For the past two years I've applied for tons of jobs in the field and have found that most require a minimum of a master's degree. Someone told me that Columbia is a better choice if you plan on continuing your education but NYU is better if you are looking to get a job. I do plan on furthering my education but not until I've worked for a while in the field. Does anyone have any advice??
  8. I know this is for decisions...but is anyone deciding between other schools? I'm trying to decide between Columbia and NYU....any thoughts?
  9. I just called admissions and was told over the phone that I was accepted and that I should have received an email. Apparently their system sends emails out in batches, which is why we would be receiving letters at different times. The woman said that she did not know why I hadn't received anything yet. This is for the HR program. She is going to talk to the IT guy today. I'm waiting for an email until I officially celebrate, but I recommend calling because it seems like they are having trouble with their system.
  10. Yeah.....I'm so annoyed we haven't received anything yet...this is ridiculous.
  11. Sometime in mid-February... This is crazy!!!!!!!!
  12. She specifically said by email. Actually, when I initially asked her she told me that decisions HAD been sent out on Monday and that I should check my email because they contain time sensitive information. I said that I had not received anything so she reconfirmed my email address and I once again told her that I had been checking my email RELIGIOUSLY and there was no way I would have missed it. So then she went and asked someone else and came back and said, "Sorry, decisions were entered into the computer on Monday but they are not being emailed out until tomorrow, so check your email." Try calling and see what they say...maybe we can get a time estimate! Also, I didn't call Kirsten, I called admissions since the ball is now in their court.
  13. I keep checking every 5 minutes too!! And then I keep checking this board to see if anyone here has posted!1 What are they waiting for???
  14. I called the admissions office yesterday. They gave me the name of the person in charged of the LSMA HR applications. She told me that decisions were entered into their system on Monday and were set up to be sent out today! I haven't heard yet either!!!
  15. What is this award status letter that everyone got? I applied and didn't get anything on May 8th?
