  1. I went to Apply Yourself, and found an acceptance letter! I'm so happy! As for funding, they said scholarship notifications are sent out on a rolling basis as soon as acceptances are out.
  2. Oh, thanks for the heads up! Oh well, good things come to those who wait. By the way, it looks like our backgrounds are pretty similar, since I was a Linguistics major at Brandeis! And I also got waitlisted at BU after an interview.
  3. I haven't even heard from Emerson if I was accepted yet :-( They said that the second round of acceptances/rejections (for people who applied later) would go out "by the middle of this week." It's Thursday afternoon already!
  4. I've been checking my Next Step account--it seems like there is more information on there, and like it would have to be updated if you were accepted. They said they would notify by email though, but not until "around mid/late March"! Dying.
  5. I'm really hoping today is the day for Emerson! I finally caved and called their office yesterday (I submitted my application in December! Through CSDCAS, which is probably the problem....). They said they were aiming to have decisions out "by the middle of this week" which by my estimation should be today. Although, it looks like we have a longer wait for Northwestern and Columbia. Sigh. I'm relocating with a baby and a husband, I need more than two weeks to choose a school!
  6. When I went to an info session at BU, they said that the writing portion of the test is the grade they most strongly consider. For the other two sections, they just want you over the 50th percentile. (For what it's worth, I scored above the 95th percentile for writing/verbal and around the 50th percentile for quantitative, and got wait listed.) But, I think Emerson ranks those accepted by GPA and verbal/quantitative scores for scholarship awards, so apparently it's more important to them. Practice as much as you can (I barely studied at all, which was a mistake), but I don't think a low math score will totally sink you if you're strong elsewhere!
  7. I've heard back from 3/6 schools, and this whole admissions process is starting to do my head in. Academic background: undergraduate degree in Linguistics from Brandeis (3.917 GPA overall), and okay GRE scores (can't remember exact numbers, but 51st percentile for Quantitative and 95th+ percentile for Analytic Writing/Verbal). So far I've been accepted to NYU (no scholarship, at least that they've said) and MGH (no scholarship, but an assistantship). I was also waitlisted at BU, which confused me a little since they interviewed me. Now I still need to hear back from Emerson, Northwestern, and Columbia. I'm especially worried since it seems others have been hearing back from Emerson. Any wisdom/experience? Were my results so far totally random? It seems like this admissions season is going far from how I expected!
